Quote:
CAIRO — About 200 demonstrators gathered outside the United States Embassy here on Friday to protest the killing and burial at sea of Osama bin Laden as manifestations of what they called American hostility to Muslims.

Like many in Egypt, most in the crowd said they doubted Bin Laden’s responsibility for the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and instead vented pent-up resentment of America for its invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as its support for Israel.

“Until now there is no legal document which charges or accuses Osama or anyone” of orchestrating the terrorist attacks, said Mamdouh Ismail, a speaker at the demonstration, founder of a new Islamic political party and a candidate for Parliament — apparently unaware of the legal case in New York , filed in 1998 charging Bin Laden and Al Qaeda with conspiracy to attack United States defense installations. (Prosecutors said this week that the charges would be dismissed.) “Let us talk about American injustice, the killing of women and children, the killing of Muslims all over the world at the hands of America.”

The protest began after a sermon at a Cairo mosque by an aging Islamist firebrand, Sheik Hafez Salama. His supporters produced a sign proclaiming Bin Laden “a symbol of Islamic jihad” and saying “America is the terrorist state.” They chanted “Obama, Obama, the terrorist is not Osama,” and called for a march to the embassy.

“They martyred Osama, who was able to stand up to the world’s harshest power,” Mr. Salama said at a stop along the way, where a small crowd had gathered as usual in Tahrir Square, reliving the revolution. “We are all Osama bin Laden.”

Unfricking believable!

(Am I allowed to say that here?)

I REALLY wish we would have given him a proper burial at sea: strapping his corpse to the fuel cell of the Space Shuttle so everyone could see it on TV.

Then, after about 4 minutes, the fuel cell would detach from the Shuttle, landing in the ocean with his charred remains still strapped to it.

A proper burial at sea in my book.

Not showing the picture and giving him a proper funeral really worked well!! When will we stop projecting our sensibilities, morals and values on these animals?

Do a " bin laden protest" Google search. A little more than 200 don't you think?

The last line of the article “We are all Osama bin Laden.”

ummm you do realize that he was the most wanted man in the world for a reason right? He orchestrated the murder of over 3000 innocent Americans in several different attacks. If you really want to be like Bin Laden then don't cry when we kick in your door, shoot your wife and put a couple of slugs in your cranium. I really hope these are just a few nutjobs (hey we have plenty here too) and not the overall mood of the Arab world. I'm already upset with having to pay $4.11 for 87 octane this morning and I'm tired of wars for now.

NICE!

Given the other group in the Mideast and their policies towards the Arab world, I don't blame them, to a point.

Whether obl was a puppet of another bigger scheme, or a savage in his own right, it does not matter - the world is a better place. But I can see that side of the world unhappy for a lot of reasons, and unhappy folks tend to gripe at anything they can.

I did just hear about the "Double Tap" it only two shots but they are a real mind blower.

Is the other group your referring to Israel? It's really hard to understand their policies with all of the peace love and rational thinking that surrounds them.

You got it, but I'm sure they're not in the business of winning hears and minds.

Even against the US. Remember the USS Liberty. Our yearly CI briefing indicates more info is stolen through there than anywhere.

That's all a discussion for another day. My point is, all that stuff seems to be one and the same and makes for gripes from all angles, accurate or not.

This part of the op says it all:

"Like many in Egypt, most in the crowd said they doubted Bin Laden’s responsibility for the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and instead vented pent-up resentment of America for its invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as its support for Israel."

A recent poll showed a majority of Egyptians wanted to do away with the peace treaty with Israel. Israel is nothing but the scapegoat for all of the problems in their country.

Just because that corner of the world can't keep itself in check and not understand logic for some reason why he was the most wanted man in the world doesn't mean death to us. Blame your poverty and misfortunes on us, we didn't get where we are by blaming others and fighting our brothers. They need to ****, worry about themselves and do something productive.
