Amsoil's supposed ATF+4

Is this what we are talking about?? This product is no longer available. If there were any problems with trademark I would guess it would have been solved in 2000 when it came out. As it was only on the market about 6 months.

The only ATF now available is the Universal. Which looks like this:

Just one nagging question from a formulator's point of view:

How could Amsoil claim their fluid was ATF+4 if they did not have the DC formulation
recipe and the proper "legals" in their possession?

IE, not knowing the EXACT formulation of base oils and additives (especially the FM's), how could they state or label their this product as such?

As much as I disagree with Al and his gang about additives, I think the man is, business wise, honest. A small mistake could cost a small company a fortune in legal fees if they run amok of a licensed formula.
