You have decades of experience with Amsoil. Has something occurred to where you would be willing to pay more for another brand's product?
Their AMSOIL Signature Series is hard to beat. It did exceptionally well in almost all categories of testing in the Motor Oil Geek shootout. If it ain't broke...
Plus, Amsoil publishes some of their own testing results and anything under their Signature Series, not just their oils, is a top-shelf product.
You can't go wrong with either, but unless you have reason to change away from the Amsoil why pay even more for HPL unless you just wanted to; which there's nothing wrong with that either.
I'd try HPL if I weren't already an Amsoil customer for their AMSOIL Signature Series line. I typically don't change brands, but at the same time have no issues doing so for a quality product that still fills the needs of the application it's going to be used in.
I'm not sure what the HPL for more money would provide that the Amsoil doesn't already in your case. Even more headroom for longer OCIs? That's likely the jump for the price difference if your use case sees over 20k-25k miles (or more?) in OCIs go for it. If you're at yearly or 15k-20k intervals; depending on the service conditions, AMSOIL Signature Series can still do exceptionally well and HPL may not offer you more than you are already getting basically.

Which @High Performance Lubricants product line? Which line of Amsoil?
Its the Dexos garbage line, look for the HMX, HPS lines instead.. Not sold in Wal-Mart

That is the exact reason I do save coin.. I only buy Pennzoil, Mobil 1, Castrol when on sale mostly my rigs see Kirkland or Super Tech. In my 20+ years of driving and changing oil never once did I purchase a boutique oil or filters.
I've been using Amsoil since 1976. In 2020, I sold my 2002 Ram 1500 4.7L with 185k miles to my next door neighbor. One of his grandsons is still driving it with over 200k miles. No work has ever been done to the drive train.
I just switched from AMSOIL Signature Series to HPL Premium Plus PCMO in my 2025 Pilot after recently cutting open a few Amsoil oil filters and finding their quality rather lacking, to say the least. They were being made by First Brands. My decision to switch was based on having lost some confidence in Amsoil doing "the right thing" by their customers, not because their oils aren't still some of the best on the market.
HPL (and Amsoil) is an investment in a vehicle I plan on keeping for a long time. Now that the car has ~16.7k miles (3.7k on HPL in the sump), I'll extend the OCIs to align with the OLM, which based on how we drive, is around 10k.
Beside HPL having some of the best oil made for the consumer market, I appreciate their support of their customers. While you can call Amsoil and get transferred to their tech support department, you can call HPL and talk to the owner.
One of the major differences is Premium Plus does not have any group III, hence the base oils are esters, PAO, and alkylated naphthalene. I am running Premium Plus in my 6.2L Tahoe and the oxidative stability is impressive, the best I have ever tested.

Which Amsoil vs. which HPL? The last time I compared properties HPL Premium Plus was superior to Amsoil Signature Series in terms of pour point and HTHS viscosity. How Royal Purple entered this discussion is something of a mystery.

Buy Steaks for everybody & and you will like/love HPL (they were good) ,or save some money and get a really Proven oil like Amsoil Signature Series on their Preferred Costumer product purchases (to help cushion the price) , what about Torco oils and Schaeffer's ?? they are also worth a honorable mention in Excellent boutique engine oils...
As an Amsoil user I have interest in trying HPL some day. Aside from the 4th of July sale shipping is absurdly expensive.
The coupon code bitog15 essentially offsets the shipping cost. Unless you live in Alaska, Hawaii, or Canada.
I feel like for most cars it doesn’t matter, relatively frequent oil/filter changes will probably make a bigger difference.
I have been using Amsoil and HPL in higher performance use cases. High revving engines pushing a lot of power that may see some track use. Have had exceptional used oil analysis with both.
If it meets your specs, Valvoline Restore and Protect is way more oil than most cars need and is cheaper than all of them at Walmart.

Neither... been using Mobil 1 since 1975 and it works for me.....

We’ve been through this a lot on here. Changing a cheap oil more frequently doesn’t give you better results than using a higher quality oil for longer runs.
