Amsoil SS vs other Amsoil products

I'm running the Amsoil SS 10W-30 for a short 7K run in wife's 2017 Fuel Dilution Special (FDS) Model CRV Turbo. Next I will try Amsoil HM 10W-30. It might be better suited for such an engine.
I dont even think you need to use 10W-30. On my 2018 Lincoln Navigator L with the very problematic early production Gen 2 3.5 liter Ecoboost after 4600 miles the Amsoil 5W-30 SS did not fall out of grade. This sample had a lot of iron in it because the engine did have to be opened and had a lot of work done to it. The engine in fact had to be opened three times for various work relating to its cam phasers and camshaft. While the engine on this one was a lemon, the oil did very well and never fell out of grade like most oils did during that time.

I don’t debate that any of the Amsoil products aren’t great but the only one I use these days is the gear lubes. From the testing I’ve seen on here it is among the best. Since diff oil changes are less frequent I don’t mind spending the extra on it. For engine and trans oil changes I use more mainstream oils. Although once some people have more experience with the Amsoil ULV in a 10r140 I might try it but probably not as I would rather just use Mercon and change it often considering how much debris the 10r140 makes.

About 10-20 years ago I used to be an extended drain guy and used Amsoil engine oils.

The one thing I don't like about Amsoil is there jugs come in 1 gallon ( 4 quarts)...Why not a 5 quart jug?..How.many cars take.less.than 4 quarts?...Which basically means you will need 1 jug and a quart to fill most cars
Well, I just buy 2 jugs. It’s cheaper in the long run.

Amsoil has served me well since 2004. I’ve used various oil along the way and continue to do so. My beloved 2015 Tacoma 4.0L had a steady diet of XL 5W30 95% of its life. It got totaled out due to hail with 137K. OCI was 5500-6500 miles. Im a fan of their transmission fluids and saber for my 2 stoke.

Looks like it rolled off the production line.

Three niche groups are Subaru WRX fanatics, Ford Ecoboost modifiers and state police who push their vehicles hard. These groups found the usual Mobil 1 wasnt cutting it. The oil was shearing down way too low. Groups like these are the best candidates for Amsoil Signature Series.
Does amsoil have a license to do govt bids/contracts?

Why did you switch away from Amsoil?

Amsoil does have a phone number to call and discuss what is best for your application. They do have racing oils. In general their Signature, XL and High Mileage series are much better than any of the usual brands found at Walmart. No one here at Bobs believes Amsoil is a scam. Its well engineered oil and backed by modifiers like Lingenfelter.

If I had a Ferrari I would not blindly guess at what I need off the Amsoil website but call or send a web message. Using their guidance I would choose the Amsoil product.

My issue here is I think Amsoil should have Signature Series and a High Mileage Signature Series versus an XL series. If you told me here is our best oil and this is our 2nd best oil for a few dollars left...give me your best!
What about these particular product lines do you know makes them better than the best OTS synthetics at Walmart? Just curious. I already believe Amsoil makes very quality products.

These days I would agree with the premise of your question. 20 years ago, I would say your question was silly.

I dont believe you
That’s ok. You don’t have to I guess. Tone and intent are poorly communicated on the internet, so that’s why I said that to be clear. Guess that still isn’t enough 😂 Some people just can’t be convinced and go out of their way to try to find the worst in people.

Edit: I should add I'm an Amsoil preferred customer, and I have Amsoil in my diffs and T-case as we speak.

Some here just are looking for a fight instead of assuming the best in people. I don't get it.

Why should I buy anything other than Amsoil Signature Series?

Amsoil now has Signature Series, XL, OE and High Mileage. So Im wondering if Signature Series is really the best they sell why should I even consider any of the other oils Amsoil produces?

According to Amsoil their Signature Series is the best oil they produce and everything else they sell is inferior to it. The price between the oils is a few dollars at most. So why not simply go SS and dont look back???

Disclaimer...I am a HUGE Amsoil fan. I think Amsoil makes the best oil on the market.

Ok…… so to get back to the OP’s topic……..
If it really matters to anyone, here’s my thoughts.

I have a 24 F150 Powerboost
My thoughts are with twin turbos, direct injection as well as port injection, I have two concerns that drove my oil choice. 1st, the turbos put a huge strain on the oil and the second being the direct injection that can increase fuel dilution.

I never have bought into extended oil change intervals. I understand using oil analysis you can tailor your oil change intervals to your driving style and vehicle demands.

Any rate, when I bought this truck, I sought the best commercially available oil I could get. AMSOIL SS was what I chose. I’m really not an AMSOIL fan boy, I really don’t like their pyramid scheme set up, but I like their products. I can buy this oil locally, but I can get it cheaper with the membership and having it shipped that I can locally.

So summarize, I use what I feel is the best oil I can get, and I change it early. I use a Microgard Select filter for the same reasons.

If the OE doesn’t call for extended OCI’s amsoil doesn’t make that go away. Stick within the manufacturer’s recommended OCI’s any GF-6A oil is formulated to meet the demands of turbo chargers LSPI and fuel dilution. Microgard are good filters 👍
