Any chance theres a VOA for the reformulation out yet? I cant seem to find it, granted i am a bit scatterbrained right now and wanted to drop the Q here before I forget.

The SDS sheet is for what it is for hazardous materials involved!!!!, not a recipe for other than that. If a certain base oil formulation is not deemed dangerous then it is NOT on the sds list., the actual formulation is generally proprietary information. to the manufacture of the product. so only you are assuming what happens here.

You and me both. I’d love a 5w-40 racing oil as that’s partly why I’m using HPL BARO on my Abarth.

Excellent question. It's also important to keep in mind that the test engine (Stellantis Pentastar) is not what I would describe as a great example of an engine prone to this issue. I am surprised that the API continue to use it and that the sequence hasn't been revised to something more representative of the problems observed, which would be an offering that's DI and turbocharged.

I'd love to see Valvoline post similar test results. I'm curious what Amsoil can do to remove those piston deposits.

The goal is just to pass the test. The emphasis of the test is how well the oil handles 303F temps for 90 hours straight to see if it can prevent piston deposits, ring sticking, wear etc.

Amsoil likes to double it to 180 hours to demonstrate oxidation resistance and cleanliness.

Amsoil tested their SS line in a Ranger Raptor for 25k mile drains which is a GDI engine.

Great Test, but this test does not replicate normal driving! The most driving I did straight was 4 hours, and that was from Maryland where I live to Northvale, New Jersey! I only did that like 5 times in 30 years, most of my driving today is 10 miles 1 way and back.
