Hey, this is supposed to be a family-friendly forum!Takes it out for dinner, lays it down by the fire, whispers sweet nothings in its ear. Strokes its hair and gives it those deep, long loving massages. It's storybook, really.
I bought a 2022 wrx (2.4 boxer direct injection) recently and I'm looking to doing my own oil change and I'm torn between using amsoil or high performance lubricants oil. They both seem to be great. Amsoil just seems to have more history and pedigree but HPL oil I haven't seen not one bad comment. Any thoughts?
You will get bashed. But stay strong I've heard and read a lot in 23 years. Some people in the past even have gone so far as fabricating false and misleading things about Amsoil. I don't focus on these very few examples - but will refute those as they pop up.Seems I get bashed a little here for using Amsoil. Not by everyone by any means.
Just a few.
But, it's totally fine. I expected it.
It's just I wanna run the best. Transmissions, differential gears/replacements, engines, aren't
cheap so, I spend a little more doing what I think is best to protect them.
As the old saying goes, "To each his own!"
Have a great Sunday everyone!
I'm using both. In my wife's CRV I have HPL engine oil and I just did a drain and fill with Amsoil SS ATF. At this point, I don't think you can go wrong with either one unless you choose the wrong product for your application.Seems I get bashed a little here for using Amsoil. Not by everyone by any means.

Nope that’s not it at all.Seems I get bashed a little here for using Amsoil. Not by everyone by any means.

Excellent post. I feel 100% the same way.I've been using Amsoil products in all my vehicles for close to 30 years.
I do oil changes by OLM which is usually in the 9k mile range, or 10k miles or one year.
I've never been a "good enough is good enough" type when it comes to my vehicles.
I'm not going to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a new vehicle and worry about saving a few dollars a year on oil changes.
That's my $.02. (Worth about $.0045 at current inflation rates.)
*edit-Forgot to add HPL is very tempting.
I want 2 point something out here, the next time you go by the OLM and change your oil, take a sample and send it 2 Blackstone and let us know what the TBN is? You might be surprised, and not in a good way!I've been using Amsoil products in all my vehicles for close to 30 years.

AMSOIL doesn't have even close to the best ATF. It's decent, but definitively not the best. It's just I wanna run the best. Transmissions, differential gears/replacements, engines, aren't
cheap so, I spend a little more doing what I think is best to protect them.

You tease. Why hold back?AMSOIL doesn't have even close to the best ATF. It's decent, but definitively not the best.

He has his unproven theories. You tease. Why hold back?
That statement is based on…what?AMSOIL doesn't have even close to the best ATF. It's decent, but definitively not the best.
Yes I did , just got back from watching the games today. U got me on this 1, but my come back will be that Amsoil is not in the same league as far as HPL. There is a big difference between what you are getting from Amsoil versus HPL. Maybe I was being kind in what I posted in the thread you quoted.
