The EVO is a SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET car!!!!!!!!! I bet it`s a total blast to drive! Mitsubishi makes some insanely fast cars. I miss my old 3000GT. But I love my Z. If only they`d kept the Tremec T5`s in them.

What about using a GL4 like Redline MTL in a 70W80? Maybe mix in a little MT90 to thicken it a touch. Would using that GL4 in a GL3 spec harm it?

It is too new, and needs to be broken in. Sure, get the best fluid that you can - but c'mon now, manual tranny's take a long while to break in concerning shifting.

OK Ill be patient...however in the past NO EVO has ever shifted without these problems. Every once in awhile someone comes up with a cocktail that solves the notchyness. Most of the time it was a 'cocktail' that should have never been a cocktail ie mixing brands etc

I have to dissagree with your statement that "in the past NO EVO has ever shifted without problems" my evo 9 with the W5M51 5spd shifts beautifully with out any probs. i have almost 18000 miles on her and have been using GM synchromesh pn#12345349 since 5000 miles and i change every 6000. Shepherd Trans. and TRE recomend it, if you know who Sheptrans and TRE is in the DSM/EVO world? there are even mitsu dealers that sell it and even use it for some TSB's

My 3000GT shifted absolutely flawlessly! You couldn`t even feel it going between gears. It could literally be speed shifted with your pinky finger with no notchiness or grinding at all. Did Getrag make the SL manual trannies for those cars or were the Getrags only in the VR4`s? Whatever tranny it was,I pounded the [censored] out of it for a bit over 135k miles. Never changed the fluid and it never gave me any problems at all. Very well made manual tranny!
