I do not know, I do know the 02's seem to have some problems that are more frequent, more cooling jet failures, more alternator failures and higher percentage of CPS failures. Just my observations.

Pablo, thanks for the support.

I am curious what the effect would be with a BMK-11 remote only unit. This is the unit I used on a VW TDI. This allows no change in operation to the standard filtration system. The BMK-11 filter head has a restriction to limit flow across the bypass. I used it for more than 100,000 miles in the VW and did not have any problems whatsoever. I know that the VW and PSD are apples and oranges. However, I considered the BMK-11 a quality unit for my application and would not hesitate to use one again.

brian, Pablo only promotes the stand alone by-pass as well as me. I am surprized that more PSD owners are not using a stand alone. I have used them for decades with wonderful results. Your right on the money with your thoughts.

flynavydiesel, can you give us some more details. It's my understanding that even if the bypass filter was plugged and did nothing, the rest of the oil system would work just fine. A filter like the Oil Guard just removes junk from the oil and returns it. If wear indicators increased, was the continous return of cleaner oil to the system cleaning up the engine and suspending more particles? We have seen that process happen when you change from conventional to synthetic oil, where there is no bypass filter envolved. A uoa will look bad, but acutally, if you give it some time and a couple of oil changes, it gets better. If this was going on with a bypass filter, should you have gone a little longer to finish the cleaning process?

Larry,

I suspect with the dual remote setup that the hoses become restrictive because all the engine oil must flow through the hoses. Using the standalone system, the BMK-11, the full flow filter is not moved.
