Just completed 15k service on bike and it got Amsoil SAE 60w oil in engine, 75w-110 Gear oil in transmission, and Redline MTL in Primary. This mix should serve me well for upcoming Sturgis trip from Texas..
I just ran 5000 miles on Amsoil SAE 60 on my cross-country road trip from San Diego to Illinois last month (June 2012). The bike has never run more smooth and has never been so quiet. The ticking/clattering you usually hear in the TC motor ('09 Road King with stock 96" motor) was about 80% less than you usually hear. At freeway cruising speeds you couldn't hear the motor at all, she just purred like a kitten.
I'm running a Jagg 10-row oil cooler on the bike and a Stage I upgrade. The highest oil temp I saw was about 245* at 75 mph in 114* temps across the desert (it usually ran about 235-240* the majority of the time in those high temps).
At home in summer I'm running VR1 SAE 50 conventional oil and it's also very smooth and quiet compared to the 20W-50 synthetics I've tried. Here in San Diego it usually runs around 218*-225* in 90's temps on the long freeway commute I have each day to work.
Have also tried Redline 20W-60 (on last year's road trip to Illinois) and was very pleased with it - smooth and quiet running motor. This year I went with the Amsoil 60wt cuz the Redline 20-W-60 was harder to find and more expensive.
