This is my second oil change with Amsoil Signature Series 0W20. The previous oil change was Amsoil Signature Series 0w20. The metals were higher in the previous oil change. It seems to have cleaned them put. Filter was Fram Ultra Synthetic on this run.

Looks good to me, at 20k your engine wear metals are lower than average with this oil.

With no fuel and the oil in good shape, you should be able to run it longer.

Expensive 5k runs. You don’t have to run a top-shelf oil for that short an interval.
Like Amsoil? Their OE line would be perfect for this application.
I get it at cost. I am going to run the OCI out to 7500. It is still under warranty 😒

I agree. It seems to have cleaned it out fairly well last time. I was told that the wear metals would be higher on the first OCI with Signature Series and would drop on the fallow up. It seems they were right.

It doesn’t have anything to do with the oil but everything to do with the engine.

Sure it does.....put City Star in the engine and the results would be very very different.

That said and to be fair, many oils would do as well at *only* 5.000 miles. Seems that OP is extending as far as he can under warranty, and I expect out of warranty his intervals will get even longer. The Pentastar is a great engine for extended OCIs.

Just about any other oil would have given very similar results. Don't need Amsoil SS for those intervals. I know, you get it at cost.

Captain, thanks for the Post.
I agree with some on the Board here, 5k mile OCI's are expensive with Amsoil SS. If you're gonna stick with 5k mile OCI's you could use Supertech, M1, PUP, etc. I'm sure you're aware that Amsoil SS is potentially 25k OCI Oil. Obviously 5k is 20% of 25k. You mentioned that your Jeep is under warranty. I get that. If I were gonna stick with Amsoil SS I would start increasing the OCI's in increments of 2500 miles, and let the Oil Analysis be your guide. Anecdotally I've been running Amsoil SS 5w-30 for 6 yrs, and routinely run 25k mile OCI's if not longer.(I run the dual remote Bypass System in my signature) I've done over a dozen Oil Analysis to verify my strategy. My truck currently has 321k miles, and my OCI program works well for me. I'm currently on a 2+ month 10k+ mile trip.
Best of luck to you, and I look forward to tracking your progress!

Not in this case since Amsoil is not City Star. The “wear metals” he posted about and attributed to the oil are about the engine.

Lol, and by the way, do what you want and spend what you want. Your Jeep, your money, your fun. Minimalists don't understand maximists.

The big chuckle for me is wondering what the folks telling you this is too expensive or a waste for a 5k oil change spend their leisure money on. Booze? Gambling? Junk food? Sex? Video games? Lol! Everyone has their vices. I've been running Mobil 1 EP in mine for 5k to 8k OCI's and I've heard the same thing.

I am no oil expert, just a guy who takes interest in my vehicle maintenance and has a fascination with engine oil. I thought engine oil and the properties of engine oil were directly related to engine wear (or lack of). I was told by another forum member and someone outside the forum the information I shared about the oil change wear. I am paraphrasing of course. I was told that my wear numbers would go up during my first oil change with Amsoil Signature Series and go down on the second oil change interval. I was advised that this was due to the excellent cleaning properties of Amsoil and the higher content of POA. Like I said, I am no expert but what they said appears to be true. The wear numbers did trend up and then went back down substantially. Of course, 20k seems to be a magic number for wear trends to flattening out. Could be a little of both on how my oil analysis turned out. Either way Amsoil seems to be treating my engine well. Especially, since the Jeep is no longer my daily driver and sits for days at times.

Exactly, we all piss away money on less important stuff. I get it at cost and it is a great oil. Overkill, at 5k OCI, most definitely but what the hell?!?

Yep years ago I went to a auto parts store and a gentleman pulled in with a new Chrysler really nice car, he told the counter person he wanted the basic unbranded motor oil and oil filter for his first oil change and that they couldn't fool him into buying name brand products because their was no difference, there was a party store next door and I went to get a soda that same gentleman walked in behind me throwing a six pack of premium beer on the counter and asked the clerk for the finest cigar they sold! Crazy I tell you!
