so, i'm pretty much sold on Amsoil oil filters and almost sold on the new Ow. until i read the below...so my F150 with Hypertech Power Programmer, dual rear exit cat back exhaust and K&N Series 77 keeps me from extended intervals?
It doesn't even say to use the severe intervals...

"(1) Engines operating under modified conditions are excluded from extended drain recommendations. Examples include the use of performance computer chips; non-OEM approved exhaust, fuel or air induction systems; and the use of fuels other than those recommended for normal operation by the manufacturers."

Makes sense! How could Amsoil know what drain interval will work on a wide range of modified engines?

This is where oil testing and Terry Dyson's expertise can determine the best OCI.

It says it modified machines are excluded from the extended RECOMMENDATION. UOA should be done for any extended OCI, so that should be the guide.

Based on the number of buzzbomb Civics with black soot all over the back of the car, can you hardly blame Amsoil?

When it comes to modified cars, probably the biggest factor is your air induction system. That one single change probably has the biggest impact on how long you can run your oil. With my Vararam induction on my Corvette, I can now no longer go 9k on my oil changes like I did in the past. It allows more silicon to get in, which is causing my TBN to be a lot lower than before. So I can now only safely go about 7k at the most. That's ok though, since my oil life monitor usually hits zero right around that point anyhow (in the past I would ignore it and keep on going to 8 or 9k since my used oil analysis back then-with the stock intake-showed it was safe)

Doing used oil analysis on modified cars is the absolute best way to determine the proper safe OCI.

First of all the paragraph comes from this:

And must be put into context. This paragraph is with other recommendations and warnings. When seen as a whole it makes more sense and as the others have said - allow the used oil analysis and the fit of your vehicle into the recommendations drive your decisions.

Is it wise to drive a modded car 15K-25K on the same oil without assessing the state of the oil? Amsoil simply cannot control all abuse and cannot expect to hold their warranty up.

Not exactly the same, but OEM warranties on cars can and do hold up for matching aftermarket parts, put race (or significantly non-matching parts) on the car - well you could botch the warranty if something downline breaks.
