I have a rebuilt engine, built by a professional well known shop. It is a neon engine, that was rebuilt right. Forged internals, had everything resurfaced and honed. The point is, it was done right. How long will break in debris, be in the oil?

We build high performance Chevy short blocks mainly here. We have had great success with 5 hours of engine run time running Castrol or Pennzoil conventional. Change filter refill with the same brand conventional oil and run it out to half of a normal OCI. Then switch to whatever oil and OCI's you will run long term. We also subscribe to not running a new engine at a constant RPM for very long the first 10 hours of the engines life. Vary your speed if possible.

well here is a little more info. I bought an engine that was rebuilt, then ran for 500 miles break in period buy this person. Then he raced, he rally raced, crashed his car after a weekend or two. The engine had 543 miles on it when I got it. I bought the short block form him, put my own head on it, and have ran it for 1000 miles. When I did my first oil change, there were brass flecks in the oil. So I put an oil pressure gauge on it, and it has GREAT oil pressure. So I keep driving it, still has great pressure. I changed the filter after another 500 miles and cut it open, there are still some brass fleck in it. It still has great oil pressure. How long could there be metal in the oil?
