Ammo in magazines

I only keep 1 out of 15 of my 45. magazines loaded all the time. I had issues with the springs becoming weak if loaded for a very long time. Good springs are expensive, so purchase yourself a quality magazine and keep her loaded. Check it often you dont want your self defense mag' to fail on you when you need it. Same with my AK m4 40. and my 9mms. 1 mag each loaded.

It depends on the mag. US soldiers seen what happens when some mags are left loaded and are not of good construction. The Beretta M9 mags were failing left and right in Iraq. I do believe that Check Mate was the contractor.

So if you have cheap mags it can hurt. I have seen it on AR15 mags made by USA mag. The body was not tempered correctly and the feed lips spread open and the springs took a mean set very quickly.

But good mags and keep them clean and you should not have a problem.

The defective Beretta M9 mags were manufactured with defective (weak) springs. It didn't matter if the mags were stored loaded or not, they just wouldn't work properly from the start.

That's what I do. I haven't had any problems doing that even with the mags sitting mostly loaded for months on end.

It never gave a thought about the magazine springs in my SIG Pro SP2022 mags- good thing, too, because I have 16 magazines for it (two, 12-rounders for SD and 14, ten-round California-type for practice). Admittedly, though, I rarely shoot it but will probably do much more of such when I get all of the reloading supplies for the .40 S&W caliber...!

OT but I reckon I'm more of a wheelgun man at heart- it's a blast to shoot heavy .357 Magnum loads.
