What's the saying...capitalism is the worst economic system, except for all the others? Kind of true. There is no perfect system or "ism" IMO. Most are hybrid anyway. You often hear different people describe or attach certain labels to our system in different ways depending on how you define it. Kind of murky.

Yes.

It's not binary.


But a system where people must work or starve does actually work. Some humans are more motivated than others, but a system that promises free stuff with zero effort. No, it will fail. It's just human nature to see someone slacking and getting away with, others will follow.
 
Defective products - Tobacco companies knew cigarettes caused cancer a long time ago. Drug companies and Doctors pushed narcotics.
It gets murky, and sometimes the evil capitalists have help ...

My wife's cousin was an administrator in the UK's public health system (NIH). He said that back in the 1970s the government had commissioned a study to look at the consequences of banning tobacco in the UK.

They decided it was unfeasible; the extra lifespan of the ex-smokers would make the various public pensions and programs unsustainable.

Unsurprisingly, the results were not made public.

Regarding narcotics, they provide cheap pain relief compared to the costly surgery or physiotherapy that should be used.

That's a big downside of a for-profit healthcare system.

There is nothing better than being a free person and that is in essance capitalism. Best system in the world and why the USA became the strongest country in the world. No there form of government has brought more prosperity than that of being free.
Sink or swim, its all up to the individual.

FYI, Capitalism is not a form of government; it is an economic system. But yes, Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system.
The US is a blend of Capitalism and Socialism; a Mixed system.

No, I didnt say sink or swim. That part of true capitalism ended a long time ago in the USA and well we cant talk politics in here but we are no longer a true capitalist country, though that is what people voted for so is what it is..., Im hoping to live out a good many more decades of my life before it all crashes down because the direction we are going is not sustainable. *LOL*
Throughout history, it has proven over and over again that I am correct. Granted though, I considering our allies I think we still are the standard no matter how watered down the standard has become.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Our common defense is provided by the U.S. Armed Forces on the international level, your state's militia or National Guard on the national level, your state's law enforcement or state troopers, and your local law enforcement agency. Some aspects of the judicial system could also fall under this, such as the district attorney’s role in murder cases. Through the department of defense, our taxes pay for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Then there's the Coast Guard and the National Guard - they also defend us. One could also make a case that the Center for Disease Control defends us from dangerous diseases, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defends us from dangerous vehicles on our roads.

I have read it.

Some of that stuff wasn’t in existence at the beginning.
 
I have a worthless co worker who’s toothless ex druggie “wife” get $6k monthly. Jacks me off til’ no end.


That irks me as well. We have veterans who sacrificed their bodies only to get a runaround on health care or are sleeping on the streets .

Not to mention all the working folks who worked all their lives for a lot less than that.

It’s bass ackwards.
 
People got trained to collect free Gov cash during the lockdown.

SS Disability claims rose exponentially when people realized they will get paid to do nothing.
