Typical of what?

If he had used a racial slur, and I called him on it would you still be bothered? If so, why?

The whole objective of politically correct groupthink is getting people to scold one another for thinking or believing things that are deemed "unacceptable"

Doesnt it strike you as ironic that the PC movement prides itself on tolerance of others? Sure it does, as long as others fit the PC preconceived notions. I

Of course there is right and wrong.

Specifically, if I disagree with someone I will tell them I do, but understand that everyone has the right to free speech without being publicly shamed for their viewpoints. Doesnt that sound a little more tolerant to you?

More Specifically, if that poster doesnt like gays or liberal groups, isnt it his right to not like them and be able to express his views?

Wrong.

Free speech does not give you the right to say anything without consequence.

If you think it does, try yelling "Fire" in a movie theatre. Or calling your employer a SOB. Or any other such thing.

Just because you CAN say something, does not mean there are not consequences for doing so.

Those are rare exceptions. Yelling fire immediately impacts public safety. And you dont have a "right" to be employed.

Expression of the fact that (for instance) a person disagrees with homosexuality does not impact public safety. And trying to repress that viewpoint means that you dont respect free speech or (often) freedom of religious belief, two fundamental principals upon which this country was founded.

You're missing the point here.

If you want to call 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech as a reason to be bothered by me calling someone out, I suggest you read it again.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

It says, essentially, "You can't make a law dictating what people can and can't say." But this, of course, is not entirely true, since all sorts of "speech acts" are illegal: those associated with child pornography, libel, slander, threats, yelling "fire" in a public place, etc., but thankfully, in America, people saying wildly unpopular things, whether it's in favor of civil rights or comparing homosexuality to bestiality, are not thrown in jail for their opinions.

"Freedom of speech" does not mean you get to say whatever you want without consequences. It simply means the government can't stop you from saying it. It also means OTHERS get to say what THEY think about your words.

...Really? Using gay as a derogative?

Quote:
Coexist and Tolerance ones are repulsive.

So people should continue to opposed to anything that does not look like them or believe what they do?

I actually don't have anything to say that isn't an insult.

Ok.....sounds a little like the PC thought police to me, just sayin'

He has the right to say it.

I have the right to say he sounds like (words that will get me in trouble with the Mods) for it.

Not sure why that is so difficult.

What consequences are you referring to here? Yours or societies?

Either.

Consequences are consequences.

I can state someone is racist/homophobic/whatever the case may be.

Society can stop supporting ideas or the people who express them. e.g- Company says something society deems unpopular, people take their business elsewhere. Free speech is not violated.

What your missing is the concept of groupthink.

So many react in the way they have been programmed to think. Its to the point that all someone has to do is just accuse someone of being racist, and no matter how ludicrous the accusation is often the accused will flip their lid because their is nothing worse than someone playing that card, no matter how far fetched and absurd it might be. That is political correctness at work. It only creates division.

So a society = groupthink for you?

I fail to see your line of reasoning here, other than some vague concept of Political Correctness = GroupThink.

What are you trying to say?

I have too many racing, speed, and high performance parts oriented stickers to count. None of them will ever be plastered on a street legal (non-sponsored) vehicle of mine.

I just think it looks cheap and Tacky.

Unlike some members of this board that have stated they will key someones car, if they don't like a certain bumper sticker, or get all road-ragey... I'm fine with people putting those stickers on their own vehicles.

political correctness is poisonous to society. Ive tried to touch on it, Im afraid you just dont get it. I imagine it was ingrained in you from a young age. Have a great morning.

You should use your surplus stickers to "redecorate" vehicles with stickers you don't like.

These little stickers are a harmless means of personalizing a vehicle as are vanity plates.
I don't typically bother with either.
I saw a Smart yesterday with a vanity plate that read "ME SO BIG".
I thought that was pretty cute and it did make me smile.
