Amazon Shipment - Damaged Leaking Coolant Jug

In another thread last week, someone warned me not to buy coolant from Amazon, but I'd already ordered it. The first jug arrived yesterday. It was damaged and leaking. So I can confirm that ordering coolant from Amazon is a bad idea.

I've had mostly no issues with oil. Have bought probably 300 gallons of 5w40 T6 Rotella over the last couple years.

Antifreeze i get at work, it's like $50 for a case.

I've ordered ELC coolant, many quarts of gear oil with no issue.

I've had a few wet pate cat food cans come crushed to the point of being open air, but that was a one time issue.

I try to not group things if they're easy to damage.

Once I ordered a jug of pickled eggs along with some tools.

I'm getting that way myself. I ordered some shower-gel from Wal-Mart ,along with some other things, back when the virus-that-shall-not-be-mentioned started up. Package arrived and the bottle was sealed in a plastic bag and about 20% overall was missing - turns out the cap was loose. There was a mess in the bag but the volume there didn't add up to what should have leaked from the bottle. Unless it magically bagged itself, someone in a warehouse deliberately sealed the bottle in a bag and shipped it. Customer service replaced it and at least the bag prevented the rest of the items from getting gel on them but still... I guess I wasn't supposed to notice.

Knock on wood, I haven't had any issue with oil deliveries. Been doing it for a couple years now.

I've received 2 shipments of M1 leaked boxes from Wally World. Now it comes in large baggies.

Coolant is considered hazardous, isn't it ? Something tells me Amazon doesn't package it, label it, or treat it as hazardous though. I know with UPS and Fedex, their "official" recommendation for shipping liquids is actually double-bagging and using a box that's rated for the weight (can't recall if they recommend double-boxing though).

I got a gallon of coolant from Amazon the had an obvious puncture in the shape of a phillips head screwdriver and a piece of tape over it. It was mostly full but after some complaining they refunded me. I've order countless bottles of oil and whatever else. Very few issues

Peak Titanium isn't available in stores yet (at least not at Autozone, AAP, Walmart, or Napa), and since 10x is getting thin and being replaced by something with 2-EHA in it, the best bet seems to be the PGL from Walgreens, of all places!

Walgreens has the PGL for $14.99 for the 50/50 premix, though I got it on sale for $11.99 (it was a special online-only deal)

Other places sell the PGL concentrate for $20, or the 50/50 for $17

I did fine ordering motor oil in 1 qt & 5 qt jugs from Amazon and Walmart. Delivered. No damage or leaks. However, coolant seems to be more prone to damage and leaks for some reason.

Not familiar with those. I use Delo ELC in everything as do most shops I supply lubes to.

Granted my fleet is 15 years and older, no idea what a new vehicle can't use.newest thing I have us a 2013 Hitachi excavator, next is a 2008 Dodge 5500, then it's mostly 90s-early 2000s and some 60s-80s stuff.

Oreilly (and other local places) doesn't yet sell Peak Titanium concentrate, but they do sell Peak Global Lifetime concentrate (and 50/50). So I conclude that (due to local availability) PGL is the better option at this time.

Last few times I've ordered something liquid from Amazon there is always a leak. They just don't bother to package anything correctly and then it gets thrown around in shipping and something ends up leaking. Annoying, especially on something you can't get locally.

The dilema grows. The 2nd jug of Peak Titanium coolant arrived undamaged. So I can't send the 2nd jug back, plus Amazon doesn't accept returns of coolant anyway. Probably because they don't think it'd survive return shipping.

For the 1st jug that was damaged, I can only ask for a replacement because they won't refund it. So I'll have to hope the 2nd jug doesn't get damaged in shipping.
