Amazon Prescription Service

I use the mail order pharmacy associated with my health insurance. I have a United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plan and use Optum-Rx for routine long term prescriptions like those to lower blood pressure & LDL.

i would be more concerned about meds being transported in a hot or cold delivery truck and then on a porch or cooling in a mail box. Most meds have a small window of safe temperature ranges before they denature. How much do they denature, who knows but it could be a risk. Hopefully the trucks transporting the meds to the pharmacy have some climate control.

They made it all the way from China or India...lol
Crying shame..

Anyone here using it?
Any thoughts?
Not getting into anything medical but I was thinking about trying it. Thanks 👍
Nope. Hate the ruinous amazon business model, Plus delightful, Meeghan at the RiteAid two miles up the road is worth the monthly visit. I wish I needed another vaccine - in that quiet little adjunct vestibule, dis-robing ...

Even if quality isn’t an issue, there’s the USPS. Will your package be delivered on time or at all? And what about meds baking or freezing in the mailbox until you can retrieve them? All meds have a storage and “excursion” temp range and they aren’t very extreme.

Yeah we think alike...

Good point, makes me wonder if the meds are transported in a climate controlled delivery truck and on a climate controlled plane to the US. Is cargo even climate controlled, especially sensitive items such as medicine? Maybe @Astro14 can elaborate.

I really hope they do not sit in the 110* storage container at Mumbai shipping terminal for a week.

How are you doing on Losartan? I'm going to ask my doctor to switch me to that tomorrow from Lisinopril/HCTZ.
Didnt ask me but, I dumped the diuretic fast. ER do gave me that at and unscheduled ER visit when I had visible eye bleed and found my bP was 247/132 at a grocery store machine.

"L" did nothing for me. We are all different. On Amlodipine Besylate now only 4 bucks a month. My brother is on Metoprolol. Doc didn't want me on that for some reason.

No medical advice is being given here. Listen to your medical professional - unless he is a quack. Like Donald Doc.

I do have a couple of thoughts. You will likely get your Rx in the manufacturer's original factory packaging, meaning no pharmacist has coughed onto your pills or dropped them on the floor or touched them with his fingers while sorting the pills into generic pill containers*. Maybe you'll even get blister packs which ensure pills to be optimally packaged. My other thought is the counterfeit issue.

*I saw a pharmacist drop and then pick pills out of a keyboard and put them in a patient's bottle. I also saw a pharmacist sweep pills up with his hand from a pharmacy counter.

Yeah I seen that as well myself on several occasions.

If you don't support your local independent Pharmacy eventually you will be forced to use the mega corps that will in the end force you to use mail order. They have been trying for years to force smaller pharmacies to close and CVS/Walgreens/ect can't even keep all their stores open for prescriptions in my area. My daughter worked for CVS pharmacy and they treat their employees like dirt.

Independent Pharmacies often lose money on a prescription or are limited in how much of a drug they can order monthly.
When they put Independents out of business you are stuck with the mega pharmacies who in the name of profits want to switch everyone to mail order.

I drive 15 miles out of my way to go to a local Independent Pharmacy, Had a heart to heart with the Pharmacist to let me know if any of my prescriptions are a money loser for them and I will fill those at CVS. He showed me the reimbursements for each script I have and only one was a slight wash and he preferred it filled with them still.

Being a Type 2 Insulin dependent I was cut off from using Novolog and the Prescription plan denied every appeal even though what they wanted to switch me to caused hives and lessened my glucose control. Finally found another alternative insulin that works almost as good as Novolog and is covered by my plan. In no way do I want to get my Insulin by mail order.

BTW, you can ask your pharmacist to give you your meds in the original packaging. I did that when I needed an antibiotic.
Yeah I do get sealed boxes instead of bottles. I only get two but hate the month to month pickup deal my insurance enforces

Your doctor can usually prescribe a 3-month supply - unless it's a controlled substance.
