Amazon delivered my order at 6:08 AM today

Here in KC Amazon has a same day delivery fulfilment center. They start morning deliveries at 4am, they also have 12am to 4 am delivery window. On several occasions I have woke up to packages already delivered. Kinda nice. Basically it boils down to, if your item is in the same day warehouse, you get to pick your delivery window.

Do you live in a small town? I’ve been getting Prime deliveries between 4am-8am for years.

I’m in a larger city. Still surprised it was delivered that early.

I didn’t know Prime was 4AM - 8AM.

My stuff has been beating promise dates for a few months now. Unlike the last 3-4 years.
My experience exactly!

Remember when they first started delivering? Many of us thought oh no….

During April and May—both UPS and FedEx cancelled and rescheduled deliveries I was waiting for at home. While Amazon has been on time and never late.

Sometimes it matters a little. For example, I was waiting for aftermarket power window switches so I could attempt the install. But missed the weekend so I waited until later in the week.

Never saw them that early but I did see them deliver across the street at 10:15 PM one night . And it wasn't a holiday season .

I've gotten them delivering here as late as 11pm and friends he gotten their Amazon packages as early as 6am. Sometimes my order will come in same day as late as 930pm.

Guy must have plans for later today and wanted to get started early
I think they are doing this to manage their capacity: processing facility, dock, trucks, drivers are "Booked/Planned" full 0900-2000 so they are taking advantage of their own assets and engaging them on the front end. (Like a factory adding a 3rd shift).

Several examples recently reinforce this for me (I have Prime). Example:
- Order placed Wednesday afternoon. Delivery options:
o Thursday between 0400-0800
o Friday by 2000

No Thursday by end of day option? And the times I took the Friday by 2000 option, it was not delivered early.

I’ve often wondered about time slots. Say haircuts. Costco tires. A doctor. Labcorp.

In all of the above? Labcorp really worked! The rest not really…

Once I walked into Labcorp on a sat morning and looked like 20 people were waiting. I said oh dang I checked in 3 min later than my appt. I was called next, in under 5 minutes.

I wouldn't want my packages or postal mail delivered after dark. I've seen them do it, but it's rare where it occurs. Something usually precipitates the event. Usually it's either manpower shortages that cause nearby drivers to load extra packages. Or, the driver encountered vehicle malfunctions that produced a delay.

In the event a driver needs to start and finish earlier than normal that day to attend a function involving family or friends, that's fine too.

I can't say I've noticed a delivery quite that early in the AM, but Amazon surely does deliver at a broader range of hours than the others in my area.

Same goes for renewing Drivers License here in Florida.

I walked in and said Holy Smokes, 35 people waiting in line. I had an appointment, had to take eye exam and was out within 20 minutes.
