The odds have improved, but at one time one fifth of all people trying to get to the top died from exposure. I've read some bad stories of people passing other people who were still alive, but couldn't be helped.

If you go straight down from the peak and look at the "V" where the snow is the brightest, it looks like about 25 people going up (or maybe down) the mountain. Perhaps we are looking at the same thing, I dunno.

Nobody has mentioned zooming in at the very bottom of the picture to look at the thousands of tents. Also, a bio-dome that appears on the edge of a crater.

This is an amazing photo. I could spend all day looking for stuff.

Amazing. I'm assuming the pic is taken from the base camp area? That spot is about 20,000 feet ASL. Ridiculous elevations to ponder. I'd love to just hike to the base camp some day.

The more I look, there are camps all over the place! There are more people on that mountain during that shot than the population of some small towns!
