I was in Wal-Mart tonight, checking out the oil/automotive section like I always do. While I was skimming through the bottles of oil, a gentleman grabbed a bottle of Super-Tech off of the shelf, walked up to me, and totally out of the blue said "This stuff right here is Quaker State. Exactly the same stuff, they just label it for Wal-Mart to sell it cheaper. Had the guy from Quaker State tell me that." He then put the bottle down and walked away.

All I could say was "Oh, really?" There was no point in trying to discuss it with him, as he didn't seem like the type of person who wanted to hear what any other consumer had to say. Whatever he had been told, he was convinced.

This is why I keep paying a premium for Pennzoil. The question is, can I trust Shell not to mess with it? Will they come out with one new SM and sell it as all 3?

I noticed M1 Truck and SUV has finally made it to the flyover country Walmarts. I spotted it in one of the Champaign Illinois stores last weekend. Same price as all the other M1...

How'd you know that it was the old formula? Just curious, as I'd like to pick some up too.

thx,

Saw a couple o' good-ole-boys looking for a filter for their Ford last night. They bypassed the excellent-value-for-the-money Motocraft filter and went straight for the big-ole heap o' Framage.

I didn't know where to begin with them so I just walked away.

Me? I don't suck the d*** of the Orange Monster.

MikeR, I'm pretty sure it was. The stuff has been sitting there a good long while ... even had to wipe the crud off the bottles before I bought them. I used their shope towels, of course.

The oil section in Walmarts seem to get awfully messy.

Not sure about the Pennzoil batch coding, etc ... Chevron puts an actual date on the bottom of the back of the bottles.
