Yeah those are kind of a different breed. Hyundai isn't what they were in the 90s, and they keep getting nicer and nicer. That's also 2 body configurations ago.

I'd still recommend stopping by a dealer and looking at one, taking it for a spin around the block.

If you got one slightly used, you could save a ton of money. I did that, saved $6,000 compared to a similar used Accord. The engine and transmission could blow tomorrow and I'd still be ahead by having low mileage replacements put in. The engine could blow and I could have a long block put in, and still be saving money.
 
I agree with d00df00d about the mental effort of driving - I drove the Mazda6 (both 'sport' and 'touring' so both wheel sizes) and found it the most intuitive and effortless to drive. On the other hand, some cars are really draining to drive for long due to the constant effort of adjusting for the lack of useful feedback, it becomes constant 'fixing' instead of just flowing.

I get the impression that most people just think that's just how cars are. It's a dang shame.
