Altima Cop Car

That's been done already.
NYC Police has (or had) been running a hybrid version of those.

NYC has been using them since around 2009.

You'd think it would have cost more to put cages in those than the vehicle savings would be since it would have to be a custom job. I doubt any outfitters make an off the shelf cage for them. Unless those are supervisor cars without cages.

What’s a Police Cooperative? I’m guessing not a full blown police officer?
St Louis County has almost 100 municipalities some which exist only to grab money from poor people. Numerous post Ferguson lawsuits resulted in some police consolidation. Still too many villages where Pop is the chief of police and Mom runs a liquor store and doubles as traffic judge. Only a slight exaggeration.

Is it a forfeiture vehicle?

From my understanding the Dodge Chargers have solidified the front end issues when they first rolled out police fleet sales. The initial Chargers were one of the worst vehicles I've seen in my 20+ years as a cop. Engine issues too but it was the front ends that were constantly failing. And the replacement parts failed as well. Newer ones seem to be much better and reliable.
These are new at a St Charles County dealer. Didn't even buy locally.

There will be more and more of this in the future.

Absolutely.
There are a lot of police agencies that don't necessarily want the added expense of purchase and operation of SUV's.
Dodge is now the only game in town.
Someone will eventually want a piece of the action and perhaps will come up with a police package of their own.

Right? Like said above, the lighting and electronics alone are many thousands.

It would be interesting to see how these do in this kind of service compared to something like a Charger or Exploder.

One thing Nissan always has going for it IMO is seating comfort.. For the driver and front passenger atleast. LOL

Are we sure this is not a vehicle for detectives, parking enforcement, etc? Basically any job that could be done with any fuel efficient fleet vehicle.

Probably more comfortable than the three wheel motorcycles they used to drive way back when.

Yeah these freaking things that seem to be built much like the Grumman LLV postal trucks that haven't changed in decades.

Ugh. Can't imagine climbing in and out of one of those Nissans in full battle rattle all day long let alone bailing out of one in a hurry if need be.

Pre pandemic, I traveled to Roswell NM often. Would visit Ruidoso NM casinos. Ruidoso police used 4x4 Jeep’s as police cars. Lots of heavy snow at their 6000 ft altitude.
I didn’t know they had snow in New Mexico I thought that was all desert and hot year round lol

Sporty wheels for a cop car though. Thought they'd probably spec and pay extra for a downgrade to steelys so as not to look ostentatious.
Those are the steel wheels, with weird looking silver and black plastic covers. Same exact thing as was on the 2020 Altima I just rented. Fitted with 215/60r16 Hankook Kinergy GT tires in my case.

Parts of New Mexico and even northwest Texas get cold and experience quite a bit of snow/ice. I spent a few years in the panhandle of Texas near Amarillo and the winters there were worse than where I was originally from in northeast Tennessee....only 3 hours slightly south and west of Roanoke, VA.

The lighting and graphics cost my department $13-15k per car/SUV. And this does NOT include a MDT or plate reader system(s).

Cool, so i have a question...what normal upgrades do police cars get versus the standard model.
Not really interested in lights package, decals, skid plates etc. (those are obvious)
Are they getting the largest engine that model has? Or something even more custom? Added turbo/supercharger?
Larger alternator to handle additional electronics load? Larger battery?
Same oil sump? or larger capacity?
Anything else cool that i'm not thinking about?
