I have a Battery/Alternator Tester (voltage only) that plugs into cigarette lighter.
Engine OFF .... Voltage should be 12.6V
Engine ON .... Voltage should be 14.+
Using my Tester (while driving), I saw that the Alternator was intermittently cutting out, then putting out 14.+V.
A new Alternator solved my problem.
If it is your battery, you can buy an electronic battery tester/analyzer.
I have a simple one that works good .... shows voltage, % charged, resistance, and final result Good/Recharge/Replace
