I have been using Nufinish wax on my DD for many years now and have been mostly satisfied with it's level or shine and durability. I am looking for something that is more friendly on dark plastic trim and isn't so light in colour that it highlights all the paint flaws after a wax job. However, the wax be durable, easy to use and not overly expensive.

Any suggestions?

Collinite will be better on trim. Some use it on trim. I guess I never understood why this was a problem. Exercise care and avoid getting it on trim. Problem solved.

NuFinish is a good product, even though it gets a bum rap. It might not have the flashiest packaging or be the most expensive, but it flat works. might just use it this winter, as it as held up well before.

My Jeep is about 1/3 plastic /vinyl trim. Its almost everywhere. But I might do the hood in NuFinish as I have some from awhile ago.

Considering Nu Finish is called a polish and 845IW a "wax", I would consider Klasse All In One. Very user friendly, goes a long way, and doesn't stain dark trim. I hope this helps :-)

Its not a "wax" but Zaino is amazing....So easy to use and its lasts a long time. It puts down a nice shine, but I apply actual wax about a week after Zaino as it seems to lose its beading ability pretty quickly.

Collinite 845 is the bomb! I used to use NuFinish but Collinite has it beat by a mile. Easy on, easy off, no residue or powder, takes very little to attain a great protective shine. And best of all, does not mess up black trim. I always clay first.

One bottle will do 4 - 5 cars easy.

Absolutely! At the rate I'm using mine I'll get 30 cars out of it. This wax/sealant works best with light, thin application.

I have tried Ice, it works okay, and actually shines the plastic trim a bit. But I thought this stuff has poor durability?

It's not just the plastic trim that's an issue, but I find the almost white color of NuFinish looks bad on my truck that has a darker paint color. On my wifes silver car it's awesome (it has minimal plastic trim too), but the Nufinish seems to highlight all the little scratches and flaws in my trucks paint job.

Collinite seems to be a common choice. Does it' durability compare to NuFinish? Where can you find this stuff in Canada?

Pretty hard to beat Collinite 476, the paste wax, rumored to be the same as 845 with less solvent, for economy. If you use a dual action polisher, its easier to apply than a liquid with a DA polisher. I got the large economy size can. I'm pretty sure it will outlast my car, and probably the car after that. Duragloss has an economical finish, as is the Klasse sealant (Not the All in One product).

Its the spray waxes that cost you the long bux over time.

Duragloss 531. Has better cleaning ability and durability. Also very economical.

I am doing this prior to winter:

1) Coat of Nu-Finish followed by;
2) Coat of collinite 845

Im interested to see how this combo holds up over winter.

Question, what makes you believe the two above won't just smear/blend into one?
Personally I don't get nor believe in the whole 'top coat' deal.

I think you meant 501 which is their Marine polish and has excellent cleaning ability.

Nu Finish is a polish, and Collinite has no abrasives aka its a sealant. I am however making an assumption on this. I would also be applying Nu Finish first, than waiting a week prior to adding a coat of Collinite 845. Last year, I used Nu Finish alone and it held up quite well, but I am curious to see if I can improve durability a bit. Really just trial and error. If it doesnt work, no big deal.
