Alright, 'fess up. Which one of you bought this fine vehicle for $33k?

LOVE the black & silver look throughout. Plain Jane FTW.
AM radio AND a dome light!
BITOG Q: What gauges would you install in the empty pod beneath the coolant-oil-battery warning lights?
Gotta love the "three black hatboxes" under the hood....the blower motor, air cleaner and timing belt cover.

it was actually a pretty decent car for them.
The Chevette had the two adjacent strips of contacts -bottom of car beneath the driver's feet- where you could meter 1 with A, 2 with B etc. (using the correct meter for the particular circuit).

They had a reputation as a decent if basic car. But I don't know about $33,000.

Question is - do you drive it?

If you drive it regularly, in a year you will have a 30 year old low mileage car in really nice shape, worth maybe $2500 on a good day.

If you don't drive it at all, what is the point of owning it? You pay for indoor climate controlled parking and insurance, and you get to look at a new '86 Chevette once in a while.

My wife had the exact same car but in red it was basic transportation at best !
It was reliable , she bought it new drove it ten years until it got to rotten , always started no matter how cold it got , put brakes, battery and something on the electric choke and that's it.

Not my money so I don't really care who paid for it but I will admire one's desire to preserve a seemingly basic car of the era. Pretty sure it's rear wheel drive too based on engine layout. Neet!

It’s crazy to think that someone bought this car and never drove it. What is the story here? Even though it sold for way more than it was worth new, there is no way that this was a good investment. The cost to insure it would have added up a bit over the last few decades. And if the original owner had just invested that money into a safe investment I’m sure that he would have had $75,000 or more after all of this time. I can somewhat (but not exactly) understand when people do this with a sports car or other rare vehicles but with an economy car like this?? 🤦‍♂️
