My idea was that these look as good as any brand cartridge I've seen,,just a shame Fram cuts corners on product that can't bee seen.

Looks good for a Fram. If only they would change their quality control/design, then they would not have only the currently unknowing public buying their orange filters. Where there is a Fram only provider there usually is a Purolator or such provider just up the road a bit.

Really appreciate mori's help! by the time I got (maybe) an idea how to post pics last night it was way to late in CST for someone who had to be at work at 7;00 next morning.

Part #'s not clear enough to read, but this is a Fram from late model GM 4cyl. Over 4,000 miles, still looks really good. Prominent picture of thumb is at pleat seam, seam's just slightly shorter than other pleats. interior plastic cage really looks like Champ Ecore. Can't read country of origin, but best I recall it was Romania.

Just seems shameful that Fram can build this high quality product when it can be easily visually inspected and put such junk in cans.

The cartridge filters sold under the Fram name are not actually manufactured by Fram, are they? The fact that every Fram cartridge filter I've ever seen was made somewhere other than the USA, tells me that Fram outsources their cartridge filters to several overseas suppliers. Am I all wet in my thinking?

Fram used to be a top rated filter and good quality, but like many products manufacturing has been farmed out to third world countries as China etc. and quality suffers to squeeze profit at every step. People are still hung up on brand recignition aka RCA GE Zenith etc. good brands in their day but garbage these days, but the public is poorly informed on many products they buy.

Actually the one above was made in Bulgaria, the quality is much higher than the ones made in the US. At work everytime we a case of CCH9018's come in with Bulgaria written on the box they end up getting sold amongst the staff.

All the major brands have to fill their lines with products made by one of their competitors because none can make every filter for every product and they can't tell their customers "No we don't have what you need." either.

This means that you need to inspect or research the filters for your individual application and not go by the name on the box or the color of the can.

Went to WM last night to buy a 9018. Looked at the SuperTech and the Fram. Both stamped with the same "Made in Bulgaria". They appeared identical except that the media in the Fram was a different. The Fram media was a much brighter yellowish-orange than the Supertech. Maybe Fram specifies adding some dye to the media so people perceive there is a difference. Or maybe it is different media. The Fram was $2 more. I bought the SuperTech.

Same here....identical in every way except for the media...Fram was only 12 cents more at the Walmart I was at. I still bought the Supertech

Like others have said, it is unlikely that Fram manufactured that filter. More and more filters today are from unknown third parties and slapped in a more famous box. AC-Delco is a great example of this, they don't manufacture a single filter or spark plug anymore, but people still think the name means something!

running one right now, and i have another one in my stash for both cars I maintain. Unless I find other brands I like on sale, I like to use them. Good quality for the price I believe.
