On Tuesday night, an alligator attacked and killed 2-year-old Lane Graves at a lagoon at a Disney hotel near Orlando. The frantic search that followed dominated news coverage on Wednesday, including an afternoon press conference that revealed that the boy’s body had been found.

The alligator attack came just days after the worst mass shooting in US history, which also took place in the town of the company’s flagship theme park. For many American families, Orlando was almost synonymous to Disney World, a safe and fun place to vacation with your kids.

Disney will pay good amount of money to the boy's parents, how much do you think it will be ? Between $1M and $5M ?

I still don't see how this is any of Disney's fault, I hope they don't pay a dime.

Idiotic parents don't watch their kids, we saw that with the Zoo incident the other week.

Why on earth was a 2 year old out in a foot of water? Obviously the parents weren't that close.

Alligators seem to be a huge risk for a child's attraction. The gorilla didn't kill the child. the zoo people killed the gorilla. Can't cure the stupid epidemic though.

Someone got killed in your property you're liable.

Disney didn't have any sign on lake shore warning about alligator, and I don't think they have any written warning in any brochure about danger of alligator on their lakes.

The question is how much Disney and its insurance company will pay to the kid's parents.

Pretty clear you have never been around small children.

It only takes a few seconds.....

You obviously have neither children nor grandchildren.
Your attitude reflects the callousness of those who have yet to experience much of the world.
Once you're all grown up and start a family, you'll be better able to understand what this one is going through.
My thoughts are with these people, although I would have personally used my fingers to gouge out the creature's eyes.
It would have then let the little boy go and turned to me.
Most of us would willingly die to save our children and grandchildren.
The father in this case certainly tried.
WRT the OP's estimate of what Disney will have to pay, I also find this to be very callous.
No amount of money can ever erase the horror of seeing your son made the prey of a reptile.
These things should all be made into shoes and handbags. The meat is also pretty good.
Protected species my foot!
Extinction would be the best course for them in Florida.

Feed your kid to the Crocks then sue.

This story has been bigger than the Orlando shooting for 3 days..scheesch..give it a break.

Well said, now someone shut this thread down.

Of course it's a tragic accident, but there comes a point when parents need to take some responsibility too.

As if Disney can control alligators in their waters. So if a pigeon tripped somebody and they broke their leg at Disneyland, they'd be responsible? It's something out of their control, and this country is way too sue happy.

I didn't mean the kid's family is happy with large payout from Disney. It was a terrible accident, the parents didn't know about alligator around the area and it was a terrible experience watching your kid dragged away by an alligator.

I think Disney and the family should settle this case out of court, don't let any lawyer involved, especially some celebrity lawyers such as Gloria Allred.

Some people take care of their children, some feed children to wild animals out of ignorance. Some just kill their young.

I am so sorry for the babies born to idiots.

Yeah. A person stripped on a banana peel and broke his/her leg in Disney World park, Disney is responsible.

Very tragic and my prayers go out for the boy, his family and friends. It is simply unfathomable how one could cope with this.

More signage should certainly help, but I don't know how we can make our world 100% safe.

You ignored what I posted WRT your personal lack of understanding.
I wrote nothing of Disney's responsibility and only about your failure to grasp the reality of what happened.
Your lack of maturity is what I intended to highlight, but you already know that and are trying to pretend otherwise.
Some day, you'll grow into manhood as a father and then get it.

Just today the TV news had an interview with a parent whos child had a close call with an alligator at another part of Disney a couple of miles away from where the recent incident took place. That parent warned the Disney employees about the close call and they said that the alligators are considered pets, and they did nothing about it.

The parent of the child who had the close call commented that while he hoped that it would never happen, he predicted that someday someone would get killed by one of those alligators.

The Disney employees were warned, and they did nothing. I would not want to have Disneys liability with a history like that.
