I think what you are doing is comparing apples to oranges here. You are talking about abusing prescription drugs. The VAST majority are not being abused.
That is an amazing amount of faith you have in prescription drugs. They don't have to be abused to be dangerous.
Here's a sampling of class action lawsuits...

And when they are abused, it's a whole different level of bad than pot or even alcohol. I have seen formerly normal people burglarize their own friends' houses due to opiate addictions that started with legal prescription drugs. Sorry, but that doesn't happen with pot or alcohol. Opiates are extremely dangerous.

As for sugar being more harmful than weed (in your opinion)....so would you rather a young boy or girl eat a bowl of Sugar Pops...or smoke a bowl of weed? What is less dangerous?
Talk about apples to oranges. I would say CBD oil would be more beneficial to a child suffering from epileptic seizures than a bowl of Sugar Pops. By weight, I'm pretty sure pure sugar would kill you much faster no matter how it's consumed. Granted, it takes a lot of either substance. It doesn't take all that much alcohol to kill a person though. It's really not that hard to drink a deadly amount, and even if you don't drink enough to kill yourself in one sitting, the long term effects of alcoholism are really, really bad.
I don't think anyone has said pot is harmless. Less harmful than many legal things though? Certainly.
I have past experience abusing alcohol, weed, and sugar (and dabbled in other things)...sometimes all three or more together. Of those three, alcohol scares me the most by far. The consequences of alcohol abuse are the worst of those three...literally no comparison.
I wasn't the one that originally made the comparison of sugar to weed. I was highlighting in a simplistic way that having a bowl of sugar laced cereal, although not healthy, isn't in the same dangerous category as marijuana. I was responding to the previous poster who did in fact come very close (as a couple of others have)to basically saying that pot is harmless.
As for my "faith" in prescription drugs? When needed, you're darn right I do....as should you. Many of us would be dead if it wasn't for them. It's highly foolish to think otherwise. Maybe you'd like to venture back in history a couple of hundred years and then get ill. I'm sure some blood-letting would do wonders.
As for alcohol? Literally millions (if not billions worldwide) partake in a bit of drinking now and then. No ill effects. Not everybody can or will become an alcoholic. Not even close. But I'd be willing to bet the health and mental state of most pot users worldwide isn't exactly any better. Most weed users accomplish little in life. They often suffer from laziness, apathy, low reproductive health, and of course...partake in more deadly drug addictions than marijuana.
in a perfect world people wouldn't make stupid choices. But they do and always will.
