Is there still money to be made anymore doing uber?

I know people who do things like Uber, Lyft etc and they also do like DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats and they say they make more doing the food delivery services than Uber or Lyft because the insurance and cost of vehicle operation is so expensive. My dad does DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats and makes a killing especially during weekends and sports events like football Sunday and Super Bowl time and all of that. It was also busy during the World Series but since we watch that he didn’t do anything at that time. Some days are slower than others but a lot of it depends on the area the day etc. I’d do the food services over the ride services. Last year Super Bowl Sunday I think my dad made almost $1,000 if not just over it. That was working from like 4-9pm.
Can you sign up for UberEats and not Uber - or do you sign up for same and just accept UberEats deliveries?

Does insurance differentiate using your car for a ride service vs a delivery service.

Nice to hear from first hand source BTW (I consider dad first hand) so thank you!

You can definitely sign up for just UberEats because a lot of people with older cars will just do Eats because their car is too old to qualify for the ride sharing program.

I would NOT use that Honda for Uber.

Sell it and invest the money if you have no need for that Honda.
Yea, if you have to drive for Uber, you’d better have a Prius. A dog to drive(I drive one, so I can say that), but they’re **** near hard to kill(except for blown head gaskets in the 2010-2015 third generation models, the jury is out on the 2016-2022 gen 4 models but Toyota did some changes). The hybrid Camry/RAV4 would also work, but nothing beats the economics of a Prius for gig drivers. They’re to Uber and Lyft drivers and Doordashers/Instacarters/Amazon Flexers like the Airbus A320 is to low-cost airlines.

Yes you can sign up separately. He signed up for that first and has completely eliminated the ride apps all together.

Has anyone tried doing rideshare/food delivery selectively when they have an errand to run or as part of their commute home?

We are talking about a few $ a couple times a week. But for some pocket money and combining it with a trip im doing already it seems efficient.

Examples:

Im at the grocery store, do I snag a delivery order on my way home?

I drive across town to go to work could I successfully look for a rideshare or food delivery each day and snag one as part of my normal commute home?
