This is a Fram Tough Guard TGA3945 for the 4.2L equipped GMC Envoy that went into service on 01/29/2022 and was replaced yesterday after 2,160 miles. I tend to replace air filters pretty regularly, in this case when the OLM hit 75% and I did a simple drain and refill of the engine oil. You also know when its time for a new filter, because you feel the engine bog down which was also the case here.

Prior to switching to the Fram two years ago, I used to use an ACDelco A2014C that was a pain to replace because all the sand would fall out as you pulled it off. The Fram has a very light film of oil on it, which prevents this and it also does a much better job of keeping the intake tube as clean as a whistle. With the standard ACDelco, I used to pull the tube off to wash and reinstall.

The yellow filter is the Fram, but I also included a picture that was taken two years ago of an ACDelco A2014C. If you look closely on the bottom left, you'll notice the sand that dropped out of the filter when it was placed on the ground.

Driving through sand storms in Kuwait? I'd imagine the roads might usually have some sand kicking up from cars driving in front of you, unless in a big city area.

Happens even in big city areas, particularly certain parts of the road such as the center portion.

That being said, here's a dashcam screenshot of an actual sandstorm.
