Air-Cooled VW: SAE 30 vs 10w-30

I had a 1968. The old VW mechanic I used always swore by Rotella 15W40, so that's what I ran in it. It always worked well.

Sorry Im late to the party here, I just finally decided to join but have been looking on here for years. I drive a 69 bug daily and use Amsoil 10w30 Zrod. Im probably going to switch to either 10w30 Motorcraft Diesel or 15w40 Chevron Delo/or Shell Rotella after I depleate my stock of Amsoil. With that said, VW Mexico recommends 15w40 in all their air-cooled.

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 is HTHS 3.5 and ACEA A3/B3. Good stuff
