It screws into the oil drain hole on the side of the block. It comes with different adaptors to fit in, and it just screws in. Couldn't be easier.

Sunpro, it's available at Advance Auto parts for about $25. The gauge, and sensor come in the kit.

Very cool info. I want to look into a dipstick sensor kind. The drain plug on my HTR Honda rider is separated from the oil sump by a long piece of tubing... it is likely not an accurate reading.

I'm curious about this too. I mowed the lawn on a 102 degree day during the heat wave this past week with my little briggs series 300 push mower. I wonder how high it can get in ambient temps that high.

I also wonder about B&S's unsleeved aluminum bores that they use in the cheap push mower engines (like my series 300). They market it as "koolbore" and claim that it keeps oil temperatures down, but of course I suspect it's just cheaper to machine the blocks without an iron sleeve.

Nick, thank you - Part # CP8217. Does it require power connections as the CP8207 has a pos/neg for a light connection wire setup ?

CP8217 just connect to drain bolt hole and done ?
