After market seat cover recommendations???

Nothing with fur. They will shed and look horrible, not to mention get hair all over the inside of your car.

Are the seats in bad shape? Why not just buy the proper replacement covers? It's just another repair expense for the vehicle.

Sheepskins!

Real ones, now, not the fake cheapies from China-Mart. Real ones will protect your seats, and are neither cold nor hot -- your back and legs will not sweat, or if they do, it'll be probably a lot less than with vinyl or leather seat surfaces.

If you have velour or cloth seats, then sheepskins won't matter as regards temperature; they'll just look good.

No, I was thinking in terms of protecting new seats.

Some newer cars have side airbags on the seat so don't know if a seat cover will affect that. A buddy of mine got some leather seat covers, makes it look more luxury, think it was from ebay. You could browse around at your local auto part store to see what looks good.

I have seat covers from this company that were installed when the car was new.

I'm not into the print thing that they have so I had them made in the same color as the seats. They've never been removed from the car so the seats probably still look new under them. Actually there's no need to remove them, they look better than the original seats and they're more durable

Ranger, you paid for the new seats, why not get some use out of them and enjoy them?

The fabric seats in the 1995 GMC I bought new are still in good shape at 115,000 miles. Use up the upholstery you paid for then hide it when it gets worn.

It still gets flexed and still ages when it's covered, so 10 years from now, it won't be like new. Better than with no seat covers, but not the same as new.

Yes, real good sheepskin covers, with the best backing material. And a cutout for the side airbags.

I've discovered that some companies make what they call sheepskin "inserts" which cover the center of the seat back and the seat cushion, but leave space at the side for those airbags. Have a look: http://www.superlambauto.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=210

I'm tempted to go this way with my Buick, partly because the cost of full covers has skyrocketed. Sheepskin Factory in Denver, for example, wants $275 each, not per pair, for covers to fit my car.
