Hey guys, been lurking on the forum for a while, finally found good reason to join. I have a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0L NON turbo. It is my daily driver, with my total commute being around 100-110 miles each day, 5 days a week (90% highway/10% stop n go city). Not counting weekend trips, I have 3 kids, 2 of which play sports. So bottom line is my OCI (5000 miles) is about every 6 weeks. Sometimes I can push it to 8. I have been using Mobil 1 Synthetic, and have chosen the 5000 OCI just because it's been a standard I've kind of lived by. I ran across the threads on here about the M1 Extended Performace, guranteeing 15,000 or 1 year of oil life. Seems like the general consensus is the M1 EP is good for at least 10,000. If I switch to this, I will space out my OCI to at least 10,000 miles or more. I do plan to have a UOA done at 10,000 my first time around.
So what brings me to create this thread is to get some input on what y'all think. Given my vehicle, driving distance and my mostly highway driving, should I attempt to stretch out my OCI to 15,000 without any concern about breakdown? Any advice or pointers?
