Havoline 5w30 and Tropartic 5w30? Seems that Trop is cheaper than Havoline and its a synth blend. Granted the cost is less than .50 a quart, are there any advantages to using Trop? Does it clean better than Havoline/Chevron, etc?

They are both great well formulated lubricants which have shown outstanding results. A oil's job is not to clean but to keep the engine from getting dirty. And if i'm not mistaken Havoline does contain some group III, so technically it could be listed as a blend as well.

Good question... I would consider these two oils the best two convention oils money can buy.. Both have shown countless good UOAs.

There simply is no wrong in buying either. I've used both, and I choose based on price, often Chevron goes on sale for under a buck a quart w/ mail in rebate, without the sales and rebates I choose Trop Artic @ 1.68 at Walmart.
