The Autocraft Titanium Battery in my wifes 02 Continental gave up the ghost. Decided to get a new one. Looked all over for the recept when I purchased it back in October, 2007 at Advance Auto. Could not find it, but went to AA anyway. Well they had me in their computer and saw that the battery was still in warranty. Although they no longer have the "Titanium", they gave me an Autocraft Gold battery, FREE under warranty. That was great.

See that little bit of service went a long way... How many people will be exposed to your post now?

It's something we live by in my industry (Food Service)!

Good deal, the only problem sometimes is AAP's customer info isn't linked from store to store. So if it was bought from another store they would have to physically call and have them check purchase date.

Depending on the Store Clerk/Manager's mood that day it can create a problem. I do believe AZ's customer files are linked throughout the U.S. which makes it faster and easier sometimes..

I do however prefer AAP to AZ..

Good to hear. Though I much prefer AAP for many reasons, in all fairness I believe AZ puts you in the computer too when you buy a battery.

Now whether AZ would be so forthcoming, can't say.

Anyway, glad you are satisfied.

My local AAP has great service. I go to them for all my oil, filters, brake pads, parts etc. Very helpful staff.

True. But many companies don't want to honor their warranties and asking for receipts is one way to deny warranties because they know most consumers don't have receipts after few months.

I had a similar experience at Autozone last week. I had no receipt, but they pulled me up on the computer (impressive, since the battery was bought in NC in 2006 and I'm now in TX). They gave me a credit of $40 on the old one and sold me a new one at the old price, so my out of pocket was $23. Free is better though, no doubt.

Good idea but I would be concerned with most retailers would be using thermal paper and the slightest bit of heat turns the receipt black over time.

AAP has always had better service than AutoZone. Typically FAR smaller selection of parts on hand though.

That's what we did when I worked there in '06 (I sometimes wish I could still be there as obviously I love cars/vehicles).

I never thought of that before, but for ages Walmart used to include a receipt pouch right on the battery, and the service guy would tuck it right in there for you. They stopped doing this within the past couple years..

Our local AAP has an AZ under construction about 15 feet away!

I love good competition but this is ridiculous.

And my AAP always records the transaction and can call up your entire history by your phone number.
