With the recent discussion of ATF fluids and filtering, who out there is running add-on auxilliary ATF filters, spin-on or otherwise? Where'd you buy it and for how much? Show us whatcha got!

I have a Magnefine. Got it at Napa for about $20.

I picked up appropriate sized hoses and brass fittings from local place for ~$20, got the filter relocation bracket for less than $20. I kept it simple and just use Baldwin engine oil filters and do half capacity drains, done in less than 15 mins.

The interesting part is figuring placement. Once you do that and get to it its pretty easy.

Magnefine on my 2002 Ford Taurus, My sisters 2001 Ford Taurus, and My wife's 2004 Xterra.

I have a spin-on on my 1998 F-150. Currently with a Wix on there.

The difficult part really is finding the space for the spin on. Once that is solved it is just peaches and cream.

What about the magnet in the Magnefine vs. none in a typical spin-on filter (unless one puts magnets on the exterior)? Wouldn't the inclusion of a magnet catch more ferrous debris than a spin-on filter would alone?

For you guys with add-on spin-on filters...are you buying kits for this? It would have to have a filter adapter plate with an in/out for the fluid. I've never seen kits, and am curious what you are using.

Thanks!

Below is what I put on my wagon. Remote filter with thermostat and upgraded cooler. Lately I've been using the Mobil 1 M1-301 oil filter on the remote filter for the trans. I change the remote filter every 10k miles and haven't bothered changing the pan filter since.

Where is the optional place to plumb the remote filter in? Should it be on the trans out line, between the coolers, in the trans in?

Current plan is to plumb it on the trans out line so that it has the most "[censored]" in suspension and the flow is the best.

I purchased two B&M 80277 from Amazon.com approximately 2.5 years ago. I installed them on a 1999 Expedition and 2004 Expedition. I remember them costing aroun $30 each. When I do my ATF fluid flushes I also drop the pan to check/clean the magnets. My transmission pans and magnets are spotless, so the filters work very well. I placed mine between the cooler output and transmission input.

On a 99' GMC K-3500, I used the B&M spin on filter kit and run Mobil 1 or PureOne filters, it also has a FilterMag on it.

On my wife's Honda Pilot, I used a Magnefine.

I added a PS and Trans spin on to my 90 deville awhile back:

here is the thread about it: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/posts/1780656/

and here is when I cut open the filter shortly after: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...586#Post1810586

our 97 caravan has a magnefine on it. It has about 25k miles on the filter. trying to decided when I want to change it. ill go 30k at least maybe 40 since a few opened up magnefine have looked ok.

I also plan on added a magnefine to my brother's car shortly.

The bracket is optional.

This is an excellent setup. The synthetic media filter is 8 microns nominal and 10 absolute... so it's much better than a oil filter. A good hydraulic filter would be another good choice.

Wowzers! I think I know what my next trans filter setup will be!

here is a pdf of it for those interested: http://www.parker.com/literature/Racor/7480H_Catalog_Transmission_Filtration_April_2010.pdf

Any way to use one of these on a M/T? I saw a ton of wear metals come out during my last drain of MTF and would like to filter some of that out. Doesn't it have it's own cooler line as well?

App is 92 Civic with an S20.
