Car has been slightly lurching? probably too strong a word, wife took to dealer, they want $750. Anyone with experience, seems a bit high??? Says something about the electronic control, possibly trying to snow her. Would this be something that would leave her stranded? Allso some sort of de-carbonizer to clean "the carbon out of the throttle body", for the low low price of $259. Is this all legit, or time for new dealer?

Throttle position sensors have traditionally been problematic on many "throttle by wire systems" I typically go there first. But the 2101 code indicates the motor might be the issue. Even so, Acura will probably replace the throttle body with a new one, so why spend money cleaning it?

You could try some throttle body cleaning spray first, before paying for a repair. If it's really gunked up, it might stick.

You might also check into purchasing the part yourself and finding a local mechanic that can do the work.

It'd help others if you state what year model your MDX is and how many miles on.
I have a 2015 MDX with 111,000 miles, so far trouble free, knock on wood.

Yup, its a 2014 MDX, about 100K miles. Live in Temecula, travel to Escondido and north county San Diego frequently.

I suggest spending a few bucks for some spray throttle-body (carb) cleaner and carefully cleaning it yourself. As I was trying to say above, if it's dirty, it might be "sticky" because of the buildup, and a simple cleaning may be all that's needed.

I re-read my post above and I was not clear, sorry. I also wonder why they would charge you for "cleaning" if they are simply going to install a new part anyway. Cleaning the intake manifold and intake valves won't do a thing for a throttle body problem.

Sorry, only places I could refer you to would be in Fullerton or Anaheim, O.C. Try Cujet's DYI method if you're a little bit mechanical inclined. It's actually pretty easy to do. Acura's are pretty friendly to work on for the most part. There is not really much to remove after you take off the plastic engine covers with the plastic push clips. You only have to remove the pass. side.
