As a matter of fact, I know some rich folks who dress in rather cheap clothes on purpose when they go to buy a new car so that they don't get taken to the cleaners.

The likely scenario is it is a busy day and you act like you are not ready to buy or even know you are planning to buy a car any time soon.

Agreed. If it was end of the month, the sales person may have had a quota to meet so he had to grab onto a customer that was more likely to help him attain it.

Given that he's on the other side of the pond, I think that term is meant to describe a style of sandal, not the underwear that woman sport that rides up the crack of their buttocks.

A couple years back one of our local farmers went to a Chevy dealer with intentions of buying a new truck to use on his farm. Of course he was dressed in overhauls and had dirty boots and whatnot. The Chevy dealer wouldnt even talk to him so the person he was with drove him down the road and he bought a brand new Ford F250 with a huge wad of cash he had in the front pocket of his dirty overhauls. He claimed he went back to the first dealer to let the manager know what hapened.

This is why I bought an Si instead of an ILX. That and the fact that the Civic dash just doesn't bother me. I also wanted nav. I can't believe they won't sell a 2.4l w/ nav. Well, I can, because then there would be no reason to buy the TSX.

I don't know why anyone is ranting about it being an upscale Civic. The Integra was not Johnny Fancypants. The RSX was nice and unique until the 06 Si came out...

I don't see a problem here. You had no intention of buying a car but merely wanted to drive one. The salesman figured you out quickly and went looking for someone wanting to buy not just drive. If you are serious about driving one to own it they have more than one salesperson right? Just go back and find someone else. Leave the ego at home.

Jesus I get the worst responses from some people on this site sometimes. When did I ever say I wasn't going to buy the car? Oh because I asked to test drive it? Isn't that you're SUPPOSED to do before you plop down money on a car? Or do you just buy it online? What's this [censored] about my "ego" I told a story about my experience at a dealership and decided to share it for everyone's enjoyment. I'm not hurt at all so don't try to get all tough guy on me and act like I'm crying my heart out or something. [censored] if I really wanted to I could drive an hour to get to the other dealership and that's what I plan to do. You know what they say when you ASSume things.../rant.

I done exactly like that when I bought the LS400 in 1994, E430 in 2000 and S2000 in 2003. I bought all these cars online, paid with cashier check then sit in the car for the first time then drive off.

Didn't test drive any of the 3 cars before paid for it.

My friend had 1992 LS400 and BIL had 1998 E420, so I had seat time with those cars and I knew what I should expect from those cars that I bought without test drove them.

The S2000 was totally difference, never get in any S2000 as a passenger or driver before I paid for it. Saleman asked if I want to test drive the car before signing paper work, I said no need and I never regret that I bought it.

Similar with my friend's sister, she had 2002 Camry and like 2012 Camry to replace the 10 years old one. I made a deal online for her, on the day she pick up the car we went to dealer and she took a brief drive about 1-2 miles before signed paper works.

If you've had good experience doing that then good for you. I on the other hand have to feel the steering wheel, the interior, and how well it drives in order for me to live with it for a couple years. My reply came back more vulgar than it actually was I guess they block out a lot of curse word alternatives. I'm just not pleased with how people think they have the situation all figured out like I was going there just to drive it and have no interest whatsoever when that isn't true at all. And they had at least 25 vehicles in stock so whoever said it's because they can sell it for full price not true. According to the stats it is not selling well yet. I think it's because it has almost no advertising. Oh well I've made up my mind anyway I'm going to lease a VW GTI.

This is the internet; we're all experts here!

Good luck with your new GTI. Looks like a heck of a car.

Yeah I think you just had a bad dealer experience. I tried the email only route when I bought my new car. I sent emails to salesmen at two Dodge dealers (Challenger R/T), two Ford dealers (Mustang GT or v-6), 1 Acura dealer (TL), 1 Audi dealer (A4) and 2 Chevy dealers (Camaro SS). I stated I wanted to deal as much as possible through email and that I was very serious. Four dealers never replied, two kept sending me info on models I didn't want, even after repeatedly telling them so, and one called me repeatedly even after multiple requests to stop. The Acura dealer in my case was the only one who came back right off with $5k off retail on a TL I was interested in. In the end, I decided I just didn't want cars that nice or fast to justify an extra $10k over an Si, given my commute (and inherent cheapness, lol).

Wow, its amazing how easy it is to hurt feelings. Grow up, you want a car or a shoulder to cry on?
