Acid on playground, 2 year old severely burned

Stuff like this makes me cringe. You try your hardest to protect your kids from bad people and it seems sometimes that no one is safe. Then again you have to draw a line between paranoia and cautiousness.
I wonder if any of the new terrorism laws are applicable to this scenario. Acid can be used as a biological weapon, so one would think it would apply.

Back around 1964 some idiot broke a pop bottle, took a very large shard of it and buried it in the sand pointy end up near the swings at the playground.
A little girl around 6 or so stepped directly atop it while running.
A horrid impalement that bled to the point of being life threatening.
Luckily, an adult male was nearby who applied first aid practices and greatly slowed the bleeding then carried her off.
Didn't hear of anyone dying that day so assume she lived.
Some things you just don't expect and can not really prepare for.
It would be nice if we could afford full-time workers to rake the playgrounds every morning to seek those traps, along with other work such as keeping class picked up, hiring security for night patrols to catch the hooligans.
I bet we could afford it but our society or elites or politicians and/or this and/or than has decided that our tax dollars should go here or there oe whatever.

In response, a political cartoonist (forget who) drew a portral of the "underworld" as the Starship Enterprise, with a horn-headed, forked tail "Capt Kirk" in command, demanding more heat from a similarly altered "Mr. Scott" chief engineer, who was desperate as he apparently couldn't get the place hot enough for Mr. McVeigh.

Almost simultaneously there were two of these events.
One in Maryland with a 2 year old boy, and one in a suburb of Austin with a 2 year old girl burned by acid on playground.
My wife and I take our 3 year old and almost 2 year old to the playground all the time.
I wonder if the teens that were captured at each location got this plan off the internet.
Seems suspicious that in places nearly 2000 miles apart that we would have the same thing happen at almost exactly the same time.
I told my wife to watch out for any liquids on the slides or other equipment.
I think the idea of Matt89 might be appropriate for these animals.

I have three little kids. I could think of something to do to folks like this....
The people who do this are beyond sick- I cannot think of any words in any language that would appropriately describe either them or what they did.

What actually happened, for those of us who can't get the video to play?
In Maryland two teenagers broke into an elementary school and took the industrial strength acidic drain cleaner and poured it all over the playground equipment. The 2 year old boy came to play and was burned with 3rd degree chemical burns, he was or still is in intensive care and doctors expect an extended hospital stay.
In Texas two teenagers poured muriatic acid all over the playground equipment and a 2 year old girl got chemical burns on her when she came to play at the playground. Her injuries are not as severe as the child in Maryland.
Both locations have located the criminals and they were to be arrested.
But juveniles normally do not get much punishment.

They should be beaten until they stop moving.
Or given the same "punishment" that they gave to their victims. Glad to hear they have caught the bleepen' scumbags that poured the acid.
