AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-13:37 - Used oil filter cut & post
Oil and filter changed on 04/16/2016
2004 Ford Ranger 4L V6. Miles on vehicle: 150,432 OCI/FCI: 4900 miles
Out: MS5K 5W30 and AC Delco PF1250. No startup rattle was observed with this combo. OCI/FCI 4900 miles. No makeup oil added. I cut the filter open. Everything was in order.
In: MC Premium synth blend 5W30 and WIX 51372. It took maybe 3 seconds to fill the filter and galleries. As noted from the startup rattle ceasing. I think I will fill the filter next time.
Problems: gasket stuck to the mounting base. The o-ring on the drain plug stuck to the pan also.
Date Code: 15243ES-13:37 translates to Aug 31, 2015
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-2 External base plate
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-3 Internal base plate
All holes in the base plate were effectively deburred.
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-4 Combo valve #1
Dome end view of the combo valve. The rubber was beginning to harden and take a set.
It took quite a bit of force to remove the combo valve from the body of the filter.
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-5 Combo valve #2
The imprint from the inlet holes show the combo valve and filter were centered.
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-6 Media #1
Pleat spacing is even. No media tears. End caps firmly attached.
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-7 Media #2
Pleat spacing is even. No media tears. End caps firmly attached.
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-8 Media #3
Pleat spacing is even. No media tears. End caps firmly attached.
Other filters of this style have nubs on both the top and bottom caps. This one has nubs on the thread end cap only.
AC Delco PF1250-15243ES-1337-9 Leaf spring
Leaf spring and internal view of the can. No rust.
It took quite a bit of force to remove the leaf spring from the body of the filter.
In conclusion, this filter served well for 4900 miles using conventional 5W30 oil. There were were no tears. No startup rattle was observed. No leaks were observed. The filter was over priced in my opinion. However, they can be mail ordered for about $3 plus shipping.
