Just obtained a new (to me) '02 Chevy Trailblazer 4.2L I6 ...Local auto parts store has AC Delco oil filters (which I believe are GM approved ?) and also offers WIX oil filters . Any preference between the two ? ... WIX filters are generally regarded well here but I know nothing about AC Delco oil filters for this vehicle .

If the Delco part number ends with an "E", get the Wix. Otherwise buy whichever is cheaper. If they are the same price, tell the parts guy to surprise you.

The AC Classics are good filters made by Champ, Wix makes excellent filters as well. As long as the AC is not an ecore version (not Classic) use whichever floats your boat. The ecores can be spotted by looking down the middle, if you see a black plastic cage and lots of exposed media that is an ecore and you'd be better off with the Wix.

Imo, between ACDelco Classic and Wix/(Napa Gold), go with the least expensive. Between ACDelco with E suffix (ecore) and Wix/Napa Gold, I'd choose the latter. Wouldn't be concerned about approvals, as long as correct application reputable aftermarkets including Wix warrantee their filters same as OEM.

I use a Wix XP 51522XP in my Vortec 4200. Can't get the standard ACDelco filters, and I'm not about to start using the eCore filters.

Thanks ...Good to know about the ecore quality before I accidently head down that road !
