ac delco better than purolator??

I heard that ac delco oil filters has somekind of spring in it,that blocks the oil from running away from the filter when engine is not running,and that purolator premium plus oil filters dosnt have the spring like ac delco has.I have used both filters in my firebird and never felt any difference as far as the engine runs.I just wonder is it important to have spring in the oil filters or not??

I like both brands, but since my part time employer has Delco, I buy those. I believe the spring helps hold the endcap tight or something. Can anyone enlighten me? In case I am asked about it, mind you.

Been a while since I chopped one open, and I don't remember if the Delco had springs inside. What I do remember the Delco having is half again as much filter media. If you can get the Delco for about the same price, I would go with it even if it is an E-core.
 
The Delco filters up here are from the same manufacturer as Wix filters (and NAPA, and Krallinator), and use a coil spring to hold the internals tight. Purolators use a leaf spring. The coil spring seems like a more reliable design to me, and the two filters I've seen with loose internals used leaf springs (a Fram and a Purolator PureOne).

Do a search and you should be able to find pics of filters cut open. Or you could cut them open yourself after use for a first-hand look.
