I went to the dealer to get a new air filter for my 86 Monte Carlo SS (I've had it since new). I had a NAPA filter on it, but realized what they sold me was too tall (lid wouldn't seal). When I gave the dealer parts person the AC PN, they had to look using the vehicle info. They came up w/ GM PN 19363694 (or ACD# A248CA). They didn't have one in stock, but could order it, I said no I was just that particular town due to a family appointment).

Does anyone have an idea what the A suffix means? I don't think I've seen an AC air filter with a 2 character suffix before.

I'd bet the "A" suffix is an AC Delco Advantage part, whereas the A248C is the OEM.

Amazon has the A248C for a little over $12.
