Rockauto has acdelco 6 gallon box semi-syn and full syn for a reasonable price i believe. Who makes this oil and how good is it? I would be interested in 5w30 full syn.

Yep I checked on that once and the shipping for two boxes came to about $28 just for the shipping.

From (my aging) memory: Mobil. All oil that makes the required spec is good.

Rockauto is the last place I would buy oil from given their shipping costs when Walmart, Amazon, and others ship for free.

That's where they make their money. I paid their corporate rate to ship back a bad radiator, cost like $3.

6 gallons is a lot of oil. A lot of people do not buy the 5 gallon bucket, because it is too much oil. I don't want to crack the seal, use 6 quarts, then store that oil for however long it takes me to use all of it.

Agreed. It's the one thing they can't beat anyone on in a 100 years.

I was thinking the same thing on their shipping. It seems the costs are way out of line, especially smaller parts like gaskets etc...

There is a RA warehouse in the Houston area (Sugarland) so the shipping would be $18.99 via Fed-Ex Ground to me. $12.13 per gallon to the door for a full synthetic with no rebates is not too bad.

Even with their shipping costs, the full synthetic seems like a fair price at $3.07/qt shipped to my zip code. We run full synthetic in both of our gas pickups on the farm. It takes 3 gallons of oil total to do an engine oil change on both. One of these boxes would last a year, at most.

Works out to $2.74/quart for the full synthetic 5W30 for me after shipping and 5% discount. If I ever decide to bump my truck up to 5W30 I'd buy it just to save from shopping around and I could use it in almost anything I own/service with an engine save the two strokes.

$2.78/qt shipped to Georgia. Not a bad deal actually. Little bit cheaper than the Havoline ProDS boxes on a quart by quart basis.

The acdelco oil I've had experience with over the last few years has been blended/bottled under a Phillips 66 contract, and I'd imagine it to be similar to Phillips shield choice. As far as purchasing bay boxes go, the Napa synthetic deal from April was a great opportunity to get a box for cheap. Worked out to $2.92/qt. In general, even though six gallons is a lot for an individual, I really like the bay box and pitcher setup. We use them at my job and I prefer it vastly over a jug or quart bottles. One of the best ideas in motor oil dispensary imo.
