Above Ground Pool Advice

I have an above ground pool -18 foot round. I need to install a new liner. I looked at 58 youtube videos describing how to take down/install. Course I talked myself into it. After some research some have said not to install liner unless it is above 60 degrees out. Others have said they installed liner but put some warm water in to account for lower air temp.

So, should I install and fill now or wait till spring?

Something to consider (big) is that water was leaking so there isn't any structure/support on the flimsy walls so I would have to take the pool down. (I can get my self in to a mess!)

Any experience/advice?

Any thoughts?

Take down, dismantle and haul away the remnants. Not a fan of the above ground pools. Kind of an eye sore.

I would wait and do it in the spring when the liner is more pliable.

Growing up we had a 16x8 oval pool. It was above ground, but had a deep end. So, the liner proved itself to be quite "stretchy." I recall having the liner replaced after the pool was about ten years old. They removed the "lip" around the top of the metal walls and used a bunch of wooden clothespins to secure the liner all the way around. As the water filled it (slowly, with a garden hose) the liner stretched to fit. With the liner out they also used fine sand on the ground underneath it to provide a nice, smooth floor.

I helped a neighbor do his last spring. DBMaster gave good advice. In addition to what he said I would suggest waiting until the temps are at least 60F and are going to remain there.

I would patch the liner as best you can and fill it until spring. Then replace liner

Stay the walls with stakes and guy lines. Also run lines across the pool top so the walls won't pull out. That should get you through till spring?

Like posted above, wait till spring. The liner needs to sit in the sun so it will expand properly. Having said that, also have plenty of help when you do install the liner.

It also helps to have a system set up to support the wall while installing a new liner. For the record, I paid to have my last liner installed.....worth the money in my opinion.

Yeah wait til spring. During winter above ground pools you keep them half full to protect the liner from damage. Let ur old liner deal with winter. I need to likelyreplace my inground pool liner in spring..

Massachusetts? It's going to be at least 6 months until you'll be able to swim in it anyways. I'd wait.
