Was in Advance Auto and they had some AA filters on clearance. The AA2780 (which was on clearance)looks to be same as the AA3600 that I have bought in the past - but I would think they cannot be identical since they have a different number. There were no AA3600s to compare the AA2780 to but I compared the AA2780 to a Fram3600 and they looked the same.

Anyone know if 2780 and 3600 are interchangeable?

This is odd for me. I can't even find a 2780 under any prefixes anywhere. Just plain 2780...nope.. PH2780 ..nope ..ST2780 ..nope ..AA2780 ..nope ..not Champ ..Fram ..Wix ..Purolator ..or Donaldson ..Motorcraft too ..Amsoil..

I must be getting stale.

I think you slipped a digit, you want AA2870. I actually got a used saturn with, IIRC, a "Champ" 2870 from a quick lube. Maybe they ran out of 3614s?

Note the 30 PSI bypass instead of the 7-9 you want.

Oddly the fram-numbered 2870s have a 16 PSI bypass. Link

If I were you I'd get some Powerflo 20195's from behind the counter, 13 for $15.87 with 10 off $25 coupon. Any purolator-made filters should have the thread stamped into the base, in this case 3 4 16 for 3/4" by 16 TPI. Pic
