Wanted to change the coolant in a couple of my cars so picked up some last Saturday at AA (on sale.) Went back on Sunday to get a drain pan and some misc items. While there with my 13 year old son, one of the associates starts fussing about breaking a piece of plastic while replacing a headlight in a GM product and it was going to cost $100 for AA to fix. No real problem except he used some inappropriate language right there in the middle of the store with lots of customers (and my son) milling around. Totally unprofessional. Later that day, I went back for some tubing to assist with the coolant draining. (I had some tubing for one vehicle but of course it would not fit the other.) So when I went back, this same person says "Are you back again?" with a real snotty attitude. Almost walked out, but went ahead and got the tubing as the next auto parts store is another 20 mins away. I know its just one person, but I won't go back to that store unless its an emergency. I also believe this guy may be a manager as he is who signs off on returns and who the other associates ask their questions to. Very disappointing as I generally like AA.

Yeah that would be enough for me to start making some phone calls to corporate might even get some freebies out of it. Although i doubt it. It may put an end to him. People like him kill me they get such a big head which is what this guy sounds like.

I guess I won't tell about the 7 trips I made to AA to get an exhaust system. I'm no longer relying on their "expertise" for anything. Oils and filters only....

Funny a female friend of mine can't stand the place; when we walked in looking for fuel filters she said, "Just ask the guy @ the counter so we can buy and leave as soon as possible." A sixth sense I am learning to trust.

I wouldn't call corporate, too much hassle, and I wouldn't waste my time on a snorky little guy like that.

The best thing to do it to confront them right there, you don't have to have a smart reply, or be visually aggressive, upset or raise your voice, just a simple look in the eye and "Excuse me, what was that?" would put the guy in his place.

I think ignoring it is the worst thing you can do, it makes them feel like masters of their little domain, where in fact you, as a customer, are the "master".

That would prompt an email to HQ. I know that they used to read their emails and take action. I also email for positive experiences. I emailed them once about a positive experience I had with my local AA. A month or two later when I walked in the manager came to me and shook my hand and showed me some sort of award for customer service he had received based on my email.

This guy is one in a thousand. You would have had every right to correct him. AA is fine but no matter where you go there's always that chance of a low class person bring around.

Get the guys name, write an email or call corporate and tell them. He will be fired or reprimanded.

Don't let the guy get away with it. If he was still there after all that, I'd wait for him to leave the store and mack em with your car. Then go in reverse, then drive, then reverse, then drive over and over again!

The very reason I can't stand most autoparts stores. It's very common these days to hear employees(of many retail stores) complaining and using fowl language in front of customers. I don't get it. Especially in this economy!!

I also could care less about the 17 year old who is in severe need of an OXY treatment and knows everything about cars because he is "ASE" certified.

What a joke. File a complaint. People like this need to be called out. Respect is earned. These people missed the memo.

Living out there with all that heat, rattle snakes, and sand would make anybody cuss. Kiddin.

I never say anything when this sort of thing happens, I just take my business elsewhere. There are LOTS of other auto parts stores. Maybe they'll treat me better and I'll give them my money instead.

To me at least certifications mean squat. They used to mean something in the 90's.

Take care example A+ certification, to me means squat. I know far more than most people with A+ and I am self taught, a hobbyist who had a passion for PC's, not getting into the field because of the money.

Only upper tier certs have merit, CCNA, CCDA etc. I am not sure if there is a higher ASE cert, but I would assume there is.

Agreed. I wouldn't waste the time. He is not going to last long. Most people like that don't anyways.

I've had a run like that at AZ, guy thought he knew everything. That was, until some people that were waiting for him to get out of work...bikers!

I guess sometimes it pays to be careful what you do....

Never got my A+ either. Never had the money or time when I should of got it. Probably would still be in IT if I did but I'm not complaining. Most of my interns got theirs and I trained them and on a few made me laugh. As far as upper tier just depends on who's taking it. Some can't take the knowledge and apply to real life.

But in all honestly, stuff like that never bothers me. I just figure he`s probably having a worse day than I am,buy my stuff, and go on about my way. Usually I`ll be overly friendly and polite to people like that and it always completely flabbergasts them, haha!
