A slightly higher syn blend...

Interesting.

Although the MSDS did not specify Conventional vs Syn % in the Blend oil it did show us this:

Kendall GT-1 Syn Blend (All Grades)
Lubricant Base Oil (Petroleum) VARIOUS >80
Additives PROPRIETARY

Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic (All Grades)
Synthetic Lubricant Base Oil PROPRIETARY >75
Additives PROPRIETARY <25

Anyway....comparing the Motorcraft site for the PDS, which is very limited, and the Kendall site for 5w30 PDS. Both oils look very similar in information. The MC site does not give the VI which is important.

Based on the limited information from MC on the 5w30 Synthetic Blend and comparing that data to the Kendall PDS it appears both oils are similar. The add packs may be different since Kendall has the Titanium and MC does not.

IMO.....I doubt that Conocophillips would use completely different base oils for similar products like Kendall and Motorcraft since they are both within the same price range.

What a coincidence! Today, compliments of Tom from NJ, there is a new listing of oils that have been tested.

Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w30, SM, GF-4 is on the list......

At the moment-no.

I'm in talks with a few folks from Dearborn (Ford) to give me a heads up on the motorcraft oil changes....the little I can give you is yes-they did up the syn so that their smaller DI engines could be more protected....


Also found it cool that they use Kendall on site as well! (SSHHH!)

I've been saying C.P. semi-syns are 50% or > for a while now . Was told this by a tech at C.P. over a few years ago . The new Pennzoil semi-syn Gold is 50% . Informed by a tech at S.O.P.U.S. about a year ago . The S.U.V. hovered around 40% .
