Finally got Yahoo e-mail account. My bro who is just north of Baghdad has one, so we starting IMing back and forth this mornin. Then he sent me a link to view his webcam, got to see him! He's been there since the beginning of January... Of course mom was in tears when she saw him. He was in a little room full of soldiers and computers. It is getting hot there too, I could practically see him sweating! He did mention that they get mortared everyday. So, he sleeps in kevlar gear...

Guess it was a thrill for us to see him again...

I have a cousin who is a mechanic and gunner for a chinook in Afganistan, I guess there are only 12-15 of then there so until they got a call from him last night some of my family was REALLY worried, due to the crash the other day. I kept a cool head about it figuring bad news travels faster than good and if he had been aboard we would have heard already. Turns out he was involved in the cleanup so they probably stopped them from calling home for a few days(perfectly reasonable the families of the dead don't need to find out on CNN). The access our troops have to communication with family back home has got to be a good thing for them, not just for their families, won't make their job any easier but hopefully easier to bear.

My thoughts and prayer are always with you and your bro, and all our soldiers.

Sorta OT:

Don't we go after these b@stards? I don't get this. Are we not allowed to set up traps, watch, go after them, etc?

Thanks Grouch and Pab,

Pab,

They're in a base in N. Baghdad, I believe he said it's like 9 square miles big. Most of them(mortars) hit the outskirts of the base, but he said they got closer today. One hit the gym that he works out at frequently. He's a mechanic, so he doesn't hear much if they got any of the those firing the mortars.
